Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for our one year wedding anniversary. We stayed for a total of three nights and we had no problems at all! It was in a great location and everything in the hotel was nice and clean. The staff was awesome and very helpful. Breakfast was light, but it was very good! We... More

Hotel is situated in the centre, close to St.Mark Square. As you find the buildings and streets in Venice, they are really narrow, same feelings when you enter to the hotel with huge luggage :). Be carefully, lift is missing so for elderly people or people with handicap can be problem. Rooms are very clean, towels changed every day and amenities on higher level than... More

Great little hotel, friendly staff, wonderful location. Would recommend as a fabulous base for exploring Venice. Room great, mini bar well stocked and reasonably priced. Really pleasant stay here. Thank you!

Prime location close to St. Mark's Square as well as restaurants, shops and perfect start for trips and sightseeing. Friendly service, e.g. to carry baggage due to missing elevator. Acceptable value for money compared to high prices in Venice.

Basic and limited in all respects. Steep stairs. Odd regulations which seem rude and not welcoming. Poor breakfast. Never saw a hotel witout forks. Luggage is kept in the corridor with access to anyone.

Dear Mr.Shlomo, usually we're glad to read TA reviews because we're always trying to improve our work, but in your case we can not do so much. You said that we have no elevator, and yes, we have no elevator, no great news about this: it's written everywhere! There are stairs, of course, and we bring up Guests' luggage, and... More

We have recently spent a very pleasant few days in Venice staying at this hotel. We checked in and to our surprise were taken down the street a few doors away where at the top of the stairs were 2 rooms . The room was clean & perfectly adequate. We had to leave the key each time we went out so... More

We were in rm. 24. Room small but clean with extra small shower. The bed was extra firm.Cost $220.00 per night. Great location. Not for mobility challenged. Stairway steep, narrow and without handrail. Staff ok not very helpful or polite. Breakfast with croissants, yogurt, cold cuts and coffee. Very good croissants.

My mom and I stayed here one night while we were passing through Venice. It is a great location and easy enough to get to from the train station. Beware there is no elevator and we were on the fifth floor! Other than this, Hotel Orion met our needs!

4 minute walk from St Marks Square, perfect location for a weekend. I requested a single room, so the small double was perfect. Clean, basic, good wi-fi, fridge & safe in the room. All that was missing was a kettle. The bathroom was very small, but again, very clean. The shower curtain didn't do its job properly, so the floor... More

Hotel Orion impressed us from the moment we stepped in the front door. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was big enough for two of us. The bathroom was very small, but more importantly it was clean. The minibar was a nice surprise and the prices were reasonable. It is conveniently located a very short... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
