Where do I start? From the moment we approached the Grand Canal it was obvious that this trip would love you to our expectations. Finding our hotel wasn't easy as it appeared as the hotel entrance is down a very small alleyway. We did find it eventually and wasn't sure what we thought at first. It is in a great...

This hotel is not ideal for elderly, pregnant or people who can not manage stairs. The staircase was steep and uneven and difficult to manage suitcases. There is no porter to assist with this except twice a day when someone is brought in to do it. Being pregnant and allocated a room on the 3rd floor, I found the stairs...

Dear customers, we note you that in all of our booking portals it is CLEARLY WRITTEN that the hotel does NOT have an elevator, like almost all the ancient palaces of Venice. We always recommend that you read and understand before making a reservation and, in your case, you are pregnant, ask before a room downstairs. Unfortunately the staff at...

This hotel is a small family run business with very helpful and friendly staff. The room was very small, but after a chat with the owner , we were moved to a bigger room with a canal view. No fuss - the switch was done professionally. The staff clearly is very proud of their city and want you to experience...

I recommended this hotel because it is well located (but hard to find even with Gps). The staff is friendly and breakfast very italian ;) The rooms are nice (small but nice) and the shower is reasonable!

Quiet and nice, right in the heart of Venice! Easy to reach from Rialto station (5 min. walk). Very friendly and helpful staff. Minimal amenities (small Tv in the room for instance), but when you're in Venice you don't really need to spend time in watching TV!

Centauro hotel is ideally located for a romantic getaway. It's old with authentic decor, comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Hidden away but very close to all there is to see - San Marco, Rialto Bridge, Grand Canal and much more. Best part about Centauro Hotel is the location from which to explore the streets and squares, around...

I had an excellent couple of nights at the Centauro Hotel. Riccardo emailed thorough instructions and a map on how to get to the hotel. I arrived via catamaran from Croatia to San Basilio then took the vaporetto to Rialto. It is less than 5 minutes walk from the Rialto stop and only 10 minutes walk to St Marks. Even...

Easy to reach from Rialto C ACTV 2 station. Perfect to walk around to any attraction and better restaurants. Typical Italian old city albergo with minimal amenities but clean and useful. Not to stay in all day - but why would you come to Venice then?

Just arrived home after a weekend at the Centauro Hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Perfect location. 5 mins walk from The Rialto Bridge and 10 mins walk from St Marks Square. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
