We visited mid Nov and on our way out of Venice noticed our beats headphones (worth about £160) weren't in our suitcase, so rang hotel and 'nothing was found.' Take from that what you will, but the policy of leaving your key at reception whilst you are out isn't great! We arrived with them and left without unfortunately. Room was... More

Dear customer, as soon as you checked-out, during the morning of November 21, the housekeeper entered in your room 36 to do the cleaning and found your headphones and immediately gave us in the reception. Your headphones are here with us and we expect to receive from you a courier to pick up them. Regarding the the room keys, we... More

Not that easy to find your way there from the Water Taxi after arriving at San Marco airport. Use the directions from the Centauro Hotel website - and not the badly printed map that the water taxi people give you! I had a few problems finding the Hotel with the directions I followed from the Water Taxi company - and... More

This is the worst experience and a bad impression of Venice on my first visit. The rooms are very small and dirties, a lot of dust in the room, broken floors, creepy decoration with textil cover, old an bad state furniture, bad smell, etc. The worst think was a huge mouse (Ratatuilly) walking in my bed so we had to... This hotel is very charming and centrally located for Venice. The rooms are small compared to North American standards and true bathrooms are even smaller. Nevertheless you can take advantage of the great city from this prime location.

As the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for," and this hotel gives great value for the price. The room was small but comfortable, with all of the necessities. It was clean, the air conditioner worked great, and housekeeping did a great job. The staff are friendly, efficient, and super-helpful. They couldn't do enough for us. The location... More

Best part of the hotel is the good location close to St Mark's Square. We stayed two nights and everything is basic and very boutique feel about everything. One thing to remember is there is no lift so be prepared to carry your luggage up! The rooms are simple but abit small for couples but if you are going solo,... More

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is situated in the central part of Venice and walking distance from everything. The room is very small and basic and a basic breakfast of Croissants, rolls, cold meats, yogurts etc is served in the morning. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good Wi-fi reception in rooms. Good stay for or... More

Nice location, close to rialto vaporetto station. Close to San Marco and a lot of restaurants nearby. The staff is nice and the room is great. Be sure to book superior double room for a great view at the canal.

The hotel is very well located. About 5 minutes walk from Rialto and piazza San Marco. The room was small but was okay. The hotel is situated in a quite little street away from all the noise. The breakfast was good. Just make sure that when you booke the hotel to ensure that you are not taking a room that... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
