If you are looking for a place that is most centrally located and you can't miss plus you are on a tight budget Ai do mori is your pick. It is tiny, a mere 8 or 10 rooms, so it can't offer breakfast or other amenities, but our room was nicely decorated, very clean and with partial view of San...

Even though we were concerned by the flowery marketing language (usually designed to disguise a bad hotel) this is a good hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast is good, rooms are decent and reasonably clean by Venetian standards. Overall sense of good value in a city lacking that quality.

Very tiny room and the chair is not something you dare to sit on. Not advisable for someone with luggage any larger than a backpack. To get a key required some unusual coordination. This is close to the main square.

The location doesn't get any better...now that we got that out of the way. It is a 4 story walk up. You also have to leave your key whenever you leave. When exiting the bathroom in my room, I fell and twisted my knee. Great I am now on the top floor of the building with a twisted knee! So...

Clean room and bath within steps of San Marco. Private and safe housing at an affordable price. Everything is within walking distance. There is no public areas, but with Venice streets to explore....who has time to sit around?

Venice is a very busy - and hence noisy - city to visit. The Ai do Mori is in a great location just metres from the San Marco square. But location in a busy city is also it's downfall. Remember to close the windows and use the air-con - then the noise is almost eliminated. We had a room in...

Hotel ai do Mori is located steps from Piazza San Marco. If you stay in the "annex," as we did, there is no reception desk or lobby to contend with. Rather after checking in at the nearby office, you can take up residence just around the corner in a second floor walk up, accessible through an anonymous door directly on...

I stayed here several nights. This hotel is really all about the location. Rooms were small, clean, comfy and safe. There are lots of stairs, no elevator and no help with luggage. Wifi was good. Staff were friendly. There was no breakfast offered. There is nothing really special about this hotel but it's location is amazing. Out the door, a...

The hotel is very nice, clean, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Have to climb many stairs to get to reception and room! Best part is the location, so central. Close to everything, few meters from San Marco. Would definitely stay here again!

The location is fantastic. I was worried about noise being so close to the bell tower but once I closed my window outside sound was minimal. The bed was comfy and I slept well. Most of the staff was friendly but I sure would have liked some help with my luggage. The steps are steep and there isn't an elevator.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
