We, myself and my two friends stayed here for two nights in mid-July. As some of the other reviews have said, on your arrival, you're probably best to leave your luggage downstairs, as the reception is up a few flights of stairs, and you could actually have to bring your luggage down again! The rooms are very warm and unfortunately...

Apart from the good location, I would never advise anyone to stay at this hostel. The staff are far from friendly or helpful, in fact they are blunt and rude. When I arrived it took a good 5 minutes for someone to get to reception. I booked a room with a "private bathroom" this actually accounts for ONE shared bathroom...

These add showed us to an individual house opposite the main hotel.the place seems big as it has a kitchen too. However the room is dirty and there are insects crawling around. There was an insect crawling on one of my friend's pillow. The wifi was weak too and we were not able use it in the room. There is...

The hostel is small and nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They put me in a private room which was nice. The only thing I would say is the carpet on the stairs needs to be replaced but besides that everything was great. It is in a good location in Venice, a lot of great places to eat...

We stayed in a 4 bed room which for £40 a night was pretty expensive for such basic facilities - no breakfast, no air-con (a fan), no computers to use, no lockers and no kitchen (which I was aware of). In reality you're paying for a roof, bed, WiFi, toilet and shower. The staff aren't overly friendly and are rather...

The owner is amazing and nice. It is only him that works there which creates a downside that reception closes at about 10pm and opens at 8am (you can checkout whenever you please though). I see why the place has won awards for best staff on hostelbookers. I highly recommend this, and location is great! Very simple and he upgraded...

The hostel is simple, small, but the owner, is really sweet!! The location is good, there is no comon area, or breakfast. But its a good option if you are going to stay only a couple of nights and need something with a good price! ...............

There's a lot to improve with this hostel. It has to catch up with standards when it comes to its facilities and services. That 2 persoon room downstairs wasn't really clean. Warm water from the shower took too long to flow. The drainage wasn't working well. Water flowed out very slow and started to build up on the floor which...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
