Feel like at home, they say. For me, it's more like visiting a sister or cousin, although with only a common kitchen, not common living room. Very quiet, small guesthouse with only six rooms, but in early December, maybe only one or two are occupied. Still, daily cleaning! Easy access from airport by boat (linea arancia) almost directly to the...

This is a hidden gem! My husband and I stayed with Maria for our honeymoon. Our first night in Venice we stayed in a fancier hotel near the rialto, which was nice but we much preferred Santa Margherita Guesthouse for it's location and unbeatable stellar service. All of Venice is walkable, it was nice to be off the touristy strip....

We recently stayed here on our trip to Venice. Great spot in a non touristy location. Clean room, decent breakfast. Nothing fancy, but a comfortable stay with a good shower and decent bed. We will be back again. Also, great neighborhood restaurants very close by. Thank you!!!!

In a quiet street in Dorsoduro, a door with a numeric lock. When you open it, you enter the well maintained guesthouse. Caretacker/owner Maria runs it efficient and helpfull with lots of advices. After a good night sleep, in the morning, breakfast buffet. A nice cup of coffee in the garden and off to the streets, canals and venues.

I selected this guesthouse because of its location, (having stayed in Venice before I knew that it is not right in the busy tourist jam, but within easy walking distance of not only the main sights but also the water buses). Right from booking, Maria was excellent. She sent really clear instructions to allow us to find the property, and...

I chose this guesthouse because of the reviews and how friendly Maria was. The location was in a really lovely quiet area, the room, spacious, beautifully clean and well organised. The lovely Maria had organised everything very efficiently, door codes etc. We arrived late at the station and were worried about finding our way to Santa Margherita - as Venice can...

Cool, calm, clean and efficient - perfect in every way. We let ourselves in with the passcode provided, no bother with endless paperwork on arrival. The self-catering setup is great. Maria offered really practical advice, leading us to a few hidden gems we would never have found on our own. Excellent location, easy access to water taxis and amazing restaurants.

It was my second visit to the guesthouse in 12 months and I found the room to be as per my expectations. It was clean, spacious, airy, with a comfy sofa bed and the window looking out to the courtyard. Maria's hosting skills need a special mention here which exceeded my expectations. She was able to accomodate my demanding itinerary,...

Firstly, the pre- and post-arrival service from Maria was exemplary. So kind, so friendly and so helpful. She gave great advice and her directions to the guesthouse were perfect. I stayed on the first floor for 4 nights as a solo traveller and it was perfect for me. Very clean and a nice big bathroom. Single bed. Access to a...

I stayed here for 3 nights in April 2015. The room had modern furniture and was in a good condition. The rooms are as shown on the guesthouse homepage. The guesthouse is operated on a selfservice basis: you lock yourself in, you make your own coffee or tee for breakfast. Most of the time there is not anyone to help...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
