Booked a Quad room for a 2 night stay with my wife, mother and mother in-law (yeah I know... :-) the hotel service, room and breakfast were all great. 10m walk to St. Mark's and just about anything else. The location is quiet and the water taxi stop is literally steps from the hotel. About the only negative (and it's...

Excellent Hotel right on the Grand Canal. A ferry stop is literally just outside to take you where you need to go. It really is not that far to walk anywhere as we have a 7 year old who managed multiple long walks through the alleys. Hotel is very modern and room is excellent. The beds were slightly hard for...

Splurged on one of the 2 canal front rooms. Definitely worth it. A beautiful room with floor to ceiling Windows and a small balcony right on the grand canal. Big room and modern bathroom. A great location-close to everything but on the top floor of a beautiful old building-removed from the noise. The lovely breakfast is an added bonus.

Venice is expensive. Not only that, but many of the hotels on offer are decked out in Venetian finery which isn't always easy on the eye. Thankfully this property was neither. Tastefully decorated, the hotel has just a handful of rooms and only two with canal views. But the views from the common area/breakfast area look out onto the Grand...

We had two nights here prior to starting cruise. The hotel lives up to everything it advertises and more. The view from the common area balcony up the grand canal is great and the gondoliers were singing under our window (which opens) as they went by. Our room was spacious, well furnished and had great amenities. The breakfast buffet included...

Locanda de la Spada is a boutique hotel located in San Marco in Venice. Just a minute walk from the s.giglio maria water taxi stop, by purchasing an alilaguna ticket from marco polo airport you can literally get to the doorstep of the hotel. Hotel rooms are great and look recently refurbished. Our bathroom was large and included a huge...

We booked this bed and breakfast hotel for a 3 night stay on booking.com, and it was a very reasonable price for the San Marco area. The Hotel is situated perfectly in the Giglio area of Venice, right next to San Marco but not too close that you're swamped by tourists and their selfie sticks. There is a vaporetto/alilaguna stop...

This hotel has a prime location. My husband and I decided to take the Alilaguna from the airport. I emailed the hotel prior and they advised to take the Alilaguna orange line. It was a nice picturesque ride on the way to the hotel. We passed Cannaregio, Rialto etc. And after a long flight, I was pleasantly surprised that it...

The breakfast buffet is amazing!! Delicious assortments of food and drinks. There is basically one floor only with 9 rooms so there isn't much noise or interaction with other people. The bathroom is spacious until it comes to the shower. You can't put your arms up to shampoo your hair that's how small it is. A few rotten taps as...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Some rooms offer a balcony with full views of the canal. A sweet and savoury buffet is served daily for breakfast, and includes pastries. This historic building, with no lift, is just behind the Fenice Theatre, and 400 metres from Saint Mark's Square.
