Like many premises in Venice, the outside of Locanda Sant'Agostin isn't impressive. It's approached up a flight of stairs from a doorway between two restaurants. However behind the door is a lovely reception/dining area, off which the rooms lead (I think there are 5 or 6 rooms only). Our room was spacious, the bed massive, the bathroom modern and very...

We were in many places in Italy but I think this place was the best. Breakfast here was so much better than we expected, really nice croissants and Cappuccino. It is located in a very charming and quiet area but just 10 minutes walking from the main attractions, that's a good area to avoid the stress of tourists and enjoy...

This hotel was booked a week before we travelled and honestly, as a hotelier, I could not have been happier. Upon arrival it was easy to find, well signed and in the place on google maps it said it would. I previously read on a review that it was hard to find - well don't worry, its a 5-10 minute...

Booked for a long weekend in February - Hotel is very clean with good facilities, comfy beds and staff are so friendly and they cant do enough to help out if needed. Small hotel only about 6 rooms but has 24 hour reception. Continental Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. Very handy to access all areas of Venice using...

A quite old fashioned, typically Italian hotel with hard pillows and no proper duvet. My room was directly next to the reception desk but the double doors kept out all noise. The view was somewhat limited - straight on to the opposite house's window sill garden. The lady looking after the guests is absolutely lovely but only speaks Italian. She...

Very nice hotel in a relatively quiet area. But if your room is facing the street close the windows because if people are speaking on the street you will hear it all. The beds are short. If you are more than 175cm your feet will dangle in the air. Breakfast is relatively modest but imho it is enough. The staff...

It's a really nice small hotel. Situated in quite residential area just minutes walk from main attractions. Decent breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. Only wish there was small kettle to make tea in the evening. Would stay again.

We stayed three nights at the Locanda Sant'Agostin, which is located one floor above street level. The rooms were not especially modern, but were comfortable enough. The staff was attentive and the breakfast was quite good. My only real complaint is that the'd already shut off the air conditioning when we stayed (early October), but it was still warm. We...

It's a small but nice hotel not too far from the train station. Staff were friendly and helpful. The layout of the hotel was not amazing with dining and reception in the centre and all the rooms around the dining area. Small selection of breakfast and shorter period for breakfast from 7:45-9:30am, guess it is to cater smaller number of...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Locanda Sant'Agostin is located in the geographical center of the city at just 5-10 minutes walk from every interest point; from here it is not necesary to take the expensive waterbus: an easy walk bring you everywhere. The Locanda is situated in an authentic, lively district that is home totypical trattorias, traditional "bacari", well-known restaurants, goldsmiths' workshops, wine bars and artisan's workshops. This district is flanked by several cafes and typical "bacari", which serve the traditional "Spritz" aperitif. The elegant Locanda Sant'Agostin is located in the rooms of the Piano Nobile of a Sixteenth Century patrician palazzo, and is the result of careful restoration work. Finesse and intimacy can be seen in every detail: the parquet flooring with its warm colours, the Murano glass, the stucco cornices and the leaded glass.Staying in one of Venice's Locanda means choosing an intimate and friendly ambience, without compromising on style. ... more   less
