This hotel was nice & clean with a good breakfast. The room was small, but it is Venice! Staff was also very nice. No LIFT!! We had a lot of bags for our cruise, so it was a bit difficult. Not for the wimps!

Hi Blynnie, thanks for your feedback. We are aware we lack a lift, but as you can saw we are not able or allowed to install one...it would be great, unfortunately Venice is very old and rules are so strict! Hope to welcome in the future again Cheers Giacomo

We recently spent one night at Albergo Marin. We were greeted by wonderful staff and provided a snack and a refreshing drink. What a nice surprise! We chose this hotel because we were pulling our luggage and there's only 1 bridge to cross. The walking directions they gave us were perfect and we found the hotel with no problem. The...

Thank you to all the team at Hotel Marin for a truly memorable stay at your charming little hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy, especially the made to order coffees. We loved the location, 5 minute walk from the Train Station and nearby hidden gems that gave one...

This is a great choice if you're looking for an inexpensive hotel close to the train or bus stations - from either arrival point it's less than 10 minutes walk (that's with your luggage) and easy to find. We were given a warm and friendly welcome at reception and all the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was...

If you are looking for a budget one-star hotel in a converted palazzo in Venice, close to the cruise terminal and train station, then this Albergo may be good enough. Service was friendly and breakfast was continental, no meat or cheese, but included in price. The hotel has no elevator or porter, so be prepared to drag your luggage up...

We were amazed that this hotel was tucked away on a quiet little street and yet an easy walk (even with luggage) to the rail station and the vaporetto stops. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having our evening prosecco at the...

We found Albergo Marin staff very friendly and helpful. Great location if you don't want to walk too far from the train station. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Hotel location is very quiet away from all the hustle and bustle! The breakfast was much better than I had expected. Lovely family run hotel which we would recommend highly.

Easy to walk to from the railway station, very friendly welcome when we got there with a drink, peanuts and helpful advice, quiet comfortable room and a good breakfast. We were surprised that the hotel was listed as one star. That may be because there is no lift to the rooms on the first and second floors because otherwise it...

Hi Jack, thanks for your feedback. I have one proposal: next time, before you come here, write me directly (giacomo + vizzotto at hotel address) to remind me and I ask Michela to prepare a tiramisu for you, as she makes a tasteful tiramisu I think is one of the best I ever tried. Do not forget! Giacomo

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
