The location of the hotel was very close to center of Venice. The room had awesome air conditioning and it was big. The hotel had fast internet. Many restaurants were close to the hotel and a supermarket was nearby also.

We arrived late due to flights, about 11pm. The hotel is located in a quiet area of Venice, along a quiet alley in a nice little square. We used google maps to direct us and it was quite easy to locate that way. Our keys had been left taped to a wall so access was easy too. Despite it being... More

We stayed for 3 nights. When we eventually found the place we were very pleased with the room and facilities. The location was very quiet. Close to all sorts of everything Venice. Food close by as well. would certainly stay again.

Have just come back from 2 days staying at this hotel, we found it very quaint and just what we required for a few days sightseeing. Its in a more quiet area but within walking distance to the bus station and the water bus stop. Nearby the hotel is a few restaurants and bars along the canal which we recommend.... More

Situated in a quiet alley and very nice staff and 15 minutes from st lucia station ,we even had wifi in our room but the connection wasn't very superior but reasonable for the price . The receptionist was very helpful in every aspect. I would recommend this place for someone who's looking for a nice small quiet hotel.

First thing to know about this hotel is that you have to check-in not here but at Hotel Leonardo (Calle della Masena, 1385, 30121 Cannaregio). Then this is a short walk to a small alley off Fondamenta Misericordia. For me Cannaregio is the best area of Venice, relatively free of tourists and real Venetians frequent the ample great bars and... More

This hotel is situated in a quieter part of Venice and while its position at the back of a courtyard makes it a little bit difficult to find, it is also very quiet. Also the area has quite a lot of nice restaurants. The room was simple but very clean. The staff is only around in the morning: if you... More

Antica Raffineria is an adequate B&B in the Canneregio district. The room is clean if a little basic, with a reasonable shower room. The bed was rather uncomfortable and there was only one pillow each, but for the price it was OK.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean. The location was very calm. 20 minutes by foot to Rialto and 30 minutes to St Mark's SquareTheres some canal and several bridges right next to the hotel. Looks pretty and very Venice. Perfect hotel would recommend to anyone especially beause the price was so good.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
