This hotel is close to many attractions , so it has a location advantage.
But I feel rooms are just average. No lift in this hotel , so you have to lift your luggage on your own. I got a room at 3rd floor, so...More

We stayed in this hotel on our visit to Venice . The location is excellent , bang on San Marcos square . Water taxis , water bus, Gandola rides , tour operators , shopping , food all within few minutes of walk .
Arrived at the hotel, which is down a small alley right off San Marco Piazza, a great location by the way. Opened the door and the lady at the reception yelled from the second floor, asking under who's name was the reservation under. I told...More
I booked this place randomly based on price point and location. This was a mistake. The location worked well for us - made it easy to get on the aqua bus and it was easy to find our way back when lost in the labyrinth...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

We walked to the closest boat dock, took the boat to the airport (NOT a water taxi, but the regularly-running boat to the airport with multiple stops - water taxi is hugely expensive unless you split the cost with others). Suggest purchasing ticket the day before. Allow about up to 90 minutes for the trip, depending on what stop you board the boat. When you get to airport dock, there is about a 10-minute walk to the airport terminal. This was the best method for the pricing. Heard bad things about the bus.
