My partner and I stayed in this guest house at the end of April. Although only a few seconds walks from a busy lane of lovely shops the hotel is down a nice quite lane. The rooms and bathroom was clean and we had good nights sleep there. There is a private jetty within a very short walk from the...

The Good: AC, friendly help at the desk, nice breakfast (cold cuts, breads, jams/jellies, coffee, yogurt, juices, cereal), excellent internet connection and speed (we were even able to FaceTime with family back home), quiet area of town The Bad: some rooms supposedly have good views, but ours didn’t at all, fairly expensive place to stay (but in my opinion, it's...

We had a little trouble finding this place -- but there is no hotel in Venice I haven't gotten lost searching for! Once found, it was a quiet, convenient location. The staff were all quite helpful. The room was small but sufficient -- bathroom was up to date. The A/C struggled a bit and the bed was not the most...

This lovely rustic guesthouse is located centrally in Venice; within walking distance of the Rialto bridge and St Marks Square. It is also just a few steps from the grand canal where private water taxis can be boarded. The cheaper form of transport, the waterbus, can be caught from San Silvestre about 5-10 minute walk away through the narrow walkways....

We stayed here the day prior to our cruise departure. Although it took some navigating to find it, the hotel was in a great location - very central for seeing the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. When we first arrived, the person at the front desk was on the phone (on what appeared to be a non-hotel related business)...

This is an excellent B & B located close to the Rialto Bridge with a private landing place for taxis. We arrived early and they were kind to let us an early check-in. They provide us with keys to the guest house and the rooms as the desk at reception will not be manned after evening. They helped us with...

Hotel Ca'Arco Antico was a charming, quaint little B&B located just off a major throughway (less than 10 minutes walking distance to Ponte Rialto). Easy to find if you follow the hotel's email instructions (I suggest a water taxi or the waterbus if you want to save the wheels on your suitcase). Very friendly staff, quiet and clean room, good...

Great location. Hotel was clean and staff was helpful. Breakfast was filling and good typical European breakfast. Beds not most comfortable but not uncommon for Europe. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

This was my second visit to this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. I visited nine years ago and it is still very well maintained, clean and convenient. It was so easy to get off of the train, hire a private water taxi and be taken right to the dock that is less than 50 meters from the hotel entrance. We...

It is not well marked. Our room was clean and adequate but was rather pricey for adequate. Unless you use the water taxi you need to haul your luggage quite a distance. We only stayed one night so we didn't get to see a lot of the historic sights nearby.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
