The pictures really don't do this place justice, it's location is perfect and it's on a great little strip with bars and restaurants. It really is a hidden jem, the room was fantastic. Staff very helpful and friendly Local COOP, just around the corner, 1L bottles of water 0.25euros, "don't pay thee" 2-4euros some vendors are charging. Breakfast average, but...

We flew to Venice after our marriage to begin a 'tour' of Italy. We took a private water taxi over to Venice from the airport on the mainland and it took us right to the back door of this hotel which was great. We were warmly welcomed and our was ver clean and pleasantly decorated. We were delighted to find...

Our first time in Venice, we booked accommodation and location through a specialist, the hotel is not far from Piazza San Marco (10-15 minutes depending on how many tourists there are about) and away from the general hurley burley. Great views out front across the channel and an easy walk to the centre, we had an en-suite room with rearwards...

Stayed here recently on recommendation of colleagues. Out of the tourist crush but close enough. Ferry stop 150metres (Arsenale). Via Garibaldi outside has a selection of bars and restaurants. Great views across to 'the Venice'. Quiet location. Staff could not be more helpful-relaxed and full of information, cannot help you enough. Buffet breakfast great-extensive choices and plenty of it. Rooms...

This hotel's main plus point is its location as it's about 5 minutes walk from Arsenale water bus stop and about 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco. The breakfast was ok tea / coffee/ juice, a selection of rolls, ham, cheese, cereals, cake. with a couple of tables out the front where you could have breakfast and watch the world...

This little hotel is in a great location, right on the ocean and a 15 minute walk to St. Marks Square and very close to a water bus station. We had a nice front room with a window overlooking the street and ocean. We stayed for 4 nights. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to...

We stayed for 3 nights & loved the location which is perfect for visiting Venice & for getting the boat from the Airport. The staff are all friendly & obliging with the only complaint I would have would be the hard mattress although after living in Greece for 15 years this is something we are familiar with. In a city...

I stayed here for one night in May 2016. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Firstly, the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. We reported this to reception as soon as we got to the room. Reception sent a maintenance guy who was just about to finish work for the day. He said,...

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel, It's main plus point being its location. It is so convenient for the main Venice attractions yet slightly away from the madness of hordes of flag following tour groups and the general mayhem that is Venice. The hotel itself offers refuge but little comfort, no obvious bar or lounge, tables in the...

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from Arsenale Vaparetto stop and about 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco. You'd never know it was there. As everyone gets off at Arsenale and the crowds head in the other direction to the craziness. However, turn right and head towards Castello and you have quiet streets with lots of locals going...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
