My wife, 20 year old daughter and I completely enjoyed our stay at the Palace. The staff was incredible and our triple room was nice... queen bed with a twin across the room. The beds were very comfortable... only complaint was the pillows.. hard and flat.. bathroom was very large. Arrived directly to door by water taxi and left the...

We spent five nights here in November, and found it to be an extremely welcoming, friendly and great value place to stay. Very well located, with easy access to the popular bits of the city, but far enough form the tourist track to feel more relaxed and quieter than may be expected. The room itself was small, which wasn't necessarily...

A great experience Venice. The hotel too with those mighty doors, ( we were in an apartment across the canal from the main hotel ). Triple locks to get into our room and that was fine. In a way it reminded us of New Orleans, with fairly small but elegant rooms and all things compact. No issues, and wonderful view...

We stayed here at this centrally located, canal front hotel for two nights pre- Oceania cruise, rather than pay an exorbitant price for the "official" hotel through the cruise company. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean, the bed comfortable, the water hot and plentiful. The windows open for extra air when needed.Check-in was fast, the staff very polite and...

This is a lovely and well situated hotel. The service is friendly and the breakfast is very good. Cocktails in the bar are good and reasonably priced. My only disappointment and criticism is that the room (over looking a canal) was small for the price paid.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. Beautifully decorated, close to san Marco, really nice rooms and staff! It is easy to take the waterbus to san zuccheria and afterwards it is a 5 minute walk to the hotel, which is a hidden gem!

I stayed in a luxury apartment opposite the main hotel. It was modern but very nicely finished and incredibly comfortable. I enjoyed a glass of wine whilst people watching from my open windows. Nice welcome. Mini bar and walk in wardrobe and well stocked mini bar. Bringing my wife next time. Super location and nice welcome.

This was my first trip to Venice, and I was delighted to have such a lovely place to stay! The room was absolutely huge, and we had a view of the canal (and a peek of the Grand Canal). The staff was pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast was really lovely and had a great ground-level view of the canal....

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
