An article by a London journalist has rightly included it among ten excellent B&Bs in Venice. Because it has everything you need for a weekend trip: luxury accommodation for an affordable price in the heart of Venice. The hosts were kind and caring, making us feel like we are visiting old friends. Not to mention the numerous pairs of rubber...

Very friendly and attentive staff; very pleasant stay - genuine attention given by both ladies at the reception. Very excellent location - peaceful, yet at the very center and easy to reach from outside of Venice place. Strongly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised at the rooms they gave us.It was located in a different location that we expected. It was little further than the Piazzale Roma where our car was but it was closer to Piazza San Marco and everything else, including Rialto where lots of the shops are .We didnt have to take any "vaporetto" to get around...

My sister and I stayed here for three nights and loved this place. Both Enrica and the other lady (whose name I don't remember) were extremely helpful and friendly. Enrica lent us boots for the high water. The beds and blankets were very comfortable and the courtyard was charming. Great location close to bus stop and easy to find with...

We experiences Venice with a high tide and full moon. Luckily none of the guest rooms are on the ground floor. This is a lovely quaint guest house type of hotel, where each room varies as it is part of a converted house. Ours was a very spacious room on the top floor and has a spa bath in the...

We very much enjoyed our stay at Ca della Corte while in Venice. It is very close to the train station and Piazzale Roma, the room and bathroom were very generously sized with plenty of room to spread out and relax. Enrica was welcoming and helpful - recommended a great place for supper. Make sure you bring along the map...

I have recommended Ca della Corte before on Tripadvisor to those wanting a hotel near to the station or Piazzale Roma but who also wanted a quiet location. I had never stayed there but friends who had done so spoke of it very highly. Living in Venice is very agreeable but when the mundanities of life intrude they tend to...

We had a wonderful stay at Ca' della Corte, just a week before our 33rd wedding anniversary. It took us 9 years to go back to Venice - hopefully won't be that long for our next visit. The hosts were wonderful. Breakfast was very good - nice to have it in our room so didn't feel rushed - but I...

My wife and I stayed here because we have been married 25 years and she has always wanted to go to Venice. We loved the hotel; it's not the Ritz, but it is not expensive, which is to say that it's not ridiculously luxurious, but it doesn't clim to be - nor is it ridiculously expensive. We thought it fantastic....

We recently booked Henry's Haven for 3 nights from August 16-19th. After waaaay too many hours researching where to stay in Venice we made the plunge and booked Ca 'della Corte. My advice: book now and you will not regret it and you can stop wasting time online. We are a family of four, including two teens. Henry's Haven was...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
