We went to Venice for our honeymoon and stayed here for 5 days. To start with we couldnt find this place at all, so we called the Hotel and the lady who owns the place immediately came to receive us on the Bridge with her friendly 2 dogs. After knowing that we were on our honeymoon she immediately upgraded us...

We have now stayed here twice, and we will return. The owner Catarina and her colleagues are all helpful, rooms are comfortable, wifi, breakfast is served in the room and is good, and the location is excellent near San Pantalon. A big thumbs up. There is for a family or small group a separate apartment (Henry's Haven) near the Frari...

Beautiful B&B in a great location. We were a large family group with four rooms, all were just beautiful! Plenty of room, comfortable beds, bathrooms in each room, beautiful views and a rooftop terrace! Enrica and Caterina were so helpful, finding us restaurants, making reservations for us (which isn't easy when your a group of 11 people), and helping us...

Great B&B and a quiet retreat from the hustle & bustle in Venice. In a great location as well, far enough away from Piazzale Roma but still close enough to our carry bags. Breakfast served in the room was a nice touch. Our room had a beautiful view of the courtyard in back. We would definitely stay there again if...

Friends who go to Venice regularly recommended this hotel. It was everything they said it would be. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious - ours had a Queen sized bed and a daybed that looked to be a double bed. We had ample closet space and the bathroom had a shower with lots of hot...

We were pleasantly surprised when we were immediately offered an upgrade to an apartment upon our arrival. The reason Enrica gave us was that the B&B itself was packed and the child guests got up very early in the morning. Breakfast was taken at two nearby cafes using vouchers Enrica gave us. We didn’t meet Margaret until the day we...

Walked from S, Lucia Train Station crossing the Calatrava Bridge arriving at the Very Busy Piazzale Roma (the BIG Busy Bus Parking Lot) - 3 bridges later you will arrive at Ca Della Corte - in front of the Large wrought iron...

A little hard to find, but once we did, it was great. Wonderful location near Piazzale Roma--important since you have to carry bags there--and close to everything in Venice. Lovely breakfast wth capuccino and juice and yogurt on request, served either in the room or on the tranquil rooftop terrace. The room was a good size for three people (us...

We stayed in the amazing piano suite( May 5, 6, 7 2012) in this truly charming patrician house. Great location walking distance to Piazzale Roma, yet somewhat off the regular tourist circuit (Dorsoduro neignborhood). The staff, especially hostesses Enrica and Caterina, were most welcoming and we felt right at home. Suite was perfect for mature cople and daughter and the...

We just spent three nights at this most beautiful old house and were made to feel so welcome. It's a bit hard to find, but once you are there, it's worth it. Comfortable bed, two English TV channels, free WI-Fi, good restaurants and shopping almost at your doorstop and a most accommodating staff. Breakfast, which is included, is delivered to...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
