A first time stay in the is part of Venice, quiet and convenient to Pzla Roma (if you are driving!) The owner and staff very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure all was as expected. For the price it was a pleasant surprise to be treated in such a warm manner and feel 'at home'. Will...

After reading all positive review comments, we were very disappointed when we actually spent three nights in the hotel. The first night turned out to be a mosquito hunting night. So we asked the hotel stuff to provide as with electric plug against mosquitoes although it didn't work well. We had to turn on the noisy AC instead during the...

This was a wonderful experience. Rooms were beautiful and quite comfortable. The continental breakfast was better than others we had. I personally dislike large hotels with that feeling of being a "guest" this was completely the opposite. If you needed help, advise on a place to eat, or how to get somewhere the owner was more than willing but she...

We were very happy with our stay here. Firstly, the owner is an absolute saint. To make a long story short, due to transportation glitches, we arrived in Venice at 1 am and attempted to find our hotel on foot. We had absolutely no luck (it is a bit off the beaten track), and we called the owner of the...

My husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon and Venice was our first stop. We stayed 4 nights at Ca' della Corte and we made a fabulous choice. The room was a lot bigger than we were expecting. The location is a bit hard to find, but once we were there, it was a great location. The rooftop...

We stayed at this hotel the night before we left on our cruise from Venice. The room was lovely, the location was good (although we had to down stairs, and over two bridges) and there was a great restaurant right across the canal. The B&B has a lovely courtyard and breakfast was served upstairs on an outdoor terrace. Very good...

Upon arrival, we were told that our room would be in another building and that the room did not have electricity. My girlfriend and I were there for a bit of romance, so we thought candles would be fun until they sorted out the problem. Unfortunately, there was no hot water either for 48 hours of our stay. When I...

Good points: liked the location, friendly and professional manager, room was clean and just fine for our needs (stayed in upstairs bedroom) and aircon worked well and quietly. Price in line with fair value for venice. Manager spoke excellent English. Bad points: absolutely crap breakfasts consisting of stale tasting packaged cheap 'croissants' and that strange dry packaged italian 'toast'. one...

Ca della corte is a nice little house walking distance to everywhere in Venice. The rooms are clean and nice (except fro the one on the ground floor, nice but VERY NOISY, avoid the ground floor room at all costs!! The rest of them are fine. There is a small patio at the entrance and a little terrace at the...

We were incredibly disappointed after staying in fabulous (and much cheaper) hotels in Prague, Munich, and Florence, to end our trip at Ca' della Corte. We were stuck in their downstairs room. The room had a broken tv (we tried all the plugs within reach of the cord), a golf-themed blanket on the bed, a strange surrealist print on the...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
