This was an apartment booked for 5 people for several days. The apartment we were given was changed by email & changed again to a smaller one on arrival. Three of us had to sleep in the lounge room. A nice spot , clean & plenty of supplies but small folding beds were not as I had expected. The cost...

I was quite disappointed with Ca Della Corte. Our room (I booked a suite) was spacious but quite dingy. It certainly was not as luxurious looking as the photos on the hotel website - in our room you had to stand on an old piece of wood which was placed on the shower floor for some unknown reason. The heaters...

We stayed at this hotel/b and b on the recommendation of a friend who really adored it. The e mail we got from the hotel said marble floors etc and indeed my friend who had stayed there previously said it was amazing so we were so looking forward to it. However, our room was a tiny little attic room in...

Three of us stayed in #4 triple for three nights and found the service to be very warm at this lovely, quaint locanda (Anna Rosa Maria was most helpful). We took our breakfast in the nearby bar, the Bauta and enjoyed our cappuccino, fresh croissants, and juice, served by a friendly staff. In the evening, back at the Ca', we...

It was a lovely hotel. Great location - short walk from the bus station. The owner was very friendly, we booked a room in a hotel for 5 people, the owner offered us an apartment instead although we only booked for 1 night. The apartment was very spacious, good furish through out and also next to the canel!!The best thing...

I agree with the previous reviewer about the breakfast. I was very surprised as I have stayed at several other 3 star hotels in Venice and never received a croissant in a plastic wrapper before! I was also surprised to received 2 sachets of lemon juice when I asked for lemon with my tea. The other disadvantage with this hotel...

With regard to this review about Cadellacorte is only a Bed and Breakfast. It is a small family run enterprise. It has a varity of rooms both on the top floor and first floor piano nobile. This review continued to state we are a hotel. We also specify on our website that we are a Bed and Breakfast /Locanda not...

2 Australian couples(very widely travelled), stayed for 2 nights. Lovely rooms, antique furniture and tasteful decor. Remarkable attention to detail in terms of decor - better than several 5-star hotels I have stayed in. Airconditioning a godsend for hot summer period! Located a short walk from the train station and bus terminal, in a quiet lane with courtyard views and...

Enjoyed our stay here. Don't worry as you walk to the B&B. The alleyways are safe, even though there is some grafitti. The B&B is charming - the rooms are beautifully decorated. Ours had a lovely chandelier, and was huge. We had a quad room. The bathroom was exceptionally large, with a new jacuzzi bathtub and shower. This was quite...

We stayed in the San Rocco apartment. The apartment was spotless, bright and fantastically located. Campo Margherita is five minutes away - a great square and far from the crowds. The hotel reception and apartment are five and ten minutes respectively from the bus station. Highly recommended !

Just returned from a four day trip to Venice with my family. We stayed in the Gaffaro apartment of the Ca' della Corte. We could not have had a better experience. The staff at reception were lovely - very welcoming even though it was late when we arrived. We were sent over to the Trattoria Antico Gaffaro (literally 2 minutes...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
