Great location and very reasonable. I picked this one due to location and breakfast... a big breakfast means you can last until evening. Could be very hard to find, but we did our homework and did a dummy run on streetview, it is very easy...More
This hotel is just minutes from St. Marks square. It is an excellent location for seeing Venice. The staff was terrific as they helped us with every request that we had. We will stay there again at our next opportunity!

A comfortable & clean hotel. Impressed by the quiet court that it is in. Our room was small but it had a large bathroom (no bath) but that didn't matter. We had a refrigerator & air conditioning. The Reception/Concierge & delicious breakfast are around the...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Hi Kent, unfortunately you should be prepared for all transport in Venice to be expensive. We used the Alilaguna water taxi service which is probably more of a shuttle or bus service (it's not a private water taxi). The cost of this was 15 euros per person. I think the cost for private water taxis can be as around 100 - 200 euros so it's definitely a cheaper option.
It won't let me post a website link in this message but if you google Alilaguna it's the first link that comes up. It is best to get the Blue Line (Linea Blu) from the airport which leaves every 15 mins. There is no need to pre book and you can purchase tickets when you get to the airport. We got ours from a counter in the baggage claim area, but there are also machines around the airport. The website has instructions for how to walk from the airport terminal down to the departure point (it took us about 8-10mins to walk). You should then take the boat to the San Marco stop which is the closest stop to the hotel. From there, the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk. Make sure you have a map up on your phone or hard copy though, as the short walk involves a couple of turns down small alley ways (as do all Venice's walks).
Also, be prepared for a long boat ride. I think it took us about an hour and 20mins to get to the San Marco stop.
Hope that helps!

The Hotel Anastasia share some facilities with Violino d'Oro such as reception desk and breakfast room. Anastasia entrance is just around the corner, in a small yard, in the back of Violino , 5 min walking from S. marco square, exactly as they show in their website . ( 1 min walking, from the Canal Grande, if you arrive by water taxi)
