This hotel is really an annexe of the Hotel Violon d'Oro. When we arrived, there was no-one in the Reception area and we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come and check us in. There is no restaurant or cafe of any sort and you have to go round the corner to the Hotel Violon d'Oro for breakfast...

Visited Hotel Anastasia twice in 2016, once for Carnevale and again for the love of it! Fabulous location within three minutes walk from St Marks Piazza, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast....already booked for our return visit in 2017!

The Hotel Anastasia is set in a peaceful little square not far from the Piazza San Marco. The room was spacious and well appointed with two comfortable chairs, a desk and good shower facilities. Breakfast was in a pleasant room in the nearby Hotel Violin d'Oro. It was a copious buffet and the room had a view of a canal...

This hotel is just minutes from St. Marks square. It is an excellent location for seeing Venice. The staff was terrific as they helped us with every request that we had. We will stay there again at our next opportunity!

Room 205 is the smallest room in the hotel. I checked out the plan on the fire escape info. But, it's clean and when you only sleep there, that's fine. Good size bathroom but shower a little cramped. It's a 3 minute walk to St Marks Square so is really central. Check in and breakfast are in the hotel by...

Great location to St marks Square very central. Easy access from airport by ferry. This little hidden gem is very quiet , spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. Great value for $$..Special thanks to Gennina at breakfast for her friendly attentiveness and great cappuccino . What a beautiful lady to have working for your hotel with fantastic customer service.

This hotel is in a great location, 5min walk to Sam Marco square and the Cathedral and also only 5min walk to the San Marco water bus stop (good for coming from the airport or train station). The hotel is run as two hotels next to each other so we had to go next door for breakfast and checkout but...

we enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is very near st Mark's square which is super convenient. You go to the check-in desk at the hotel Violino d'Oro and they take you around the corner to a little piazza. The staff were friendly, everything was very clean and the bathroom was nice. The room was very small, but that's only to...

As written by previous comments, this hotel stays in good private square very near St Marks square but is surprising quiet location. The staff are super friendly and in fact you can only see them at request. We first have difficulty in finding the place but once we locate it, we have no difficult at all. The room is small...

The hotel was tucked away and a bit hard to find but worth the effort. There is not a public lobby - you must ring a bell and someone from the Hotel Violino d'Oro around the corner will meet you to check you in (this is the same place you go for a bountiful buffet breakfast in the morning as...

Dear Ms Jane, how many compliments, thank you! So happy to hear this short but so detailed and positive description of the hotel and surroundings. It’s true that coming to the hotel (especially for those who travel the first time in Venice) is a little bit hard to find this hidden small and sunny square away from crowded streets, but...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
