We stayed in a 3 bed room, at the second floor i think. The breakfast is poor. Very poor. Italian like poor. The staff is however friendly and kind. With one exception. We did not know about the city tax of 20 EUR / person (we stayed a week) until we left. The location is not center but it is...

Stayed here for 3 nights in Sept and yes it is not without faults but if you're looking for a budget stay in Venice for a couple of nights this would be ok. Firstly the location is excellent sort of equi-distant between the station & The Rialto. It's quite an easy walk if you're mobile enough, failing that the Vaporeto...

Billed as "elegant and cozy, this hotel is more accurately shabby and tiny – plaster patchers on the wall, wallpaper peeling, threadbare rugs, supplies and equipment stored in the hallways. What it has going for it are location (not on a canal, but in a rundown courtyard) on a busy main shopping street (lots of tourists and second-rate restaurants geared...

Jesolo is a tourist resort, just get that into your head. It's not the old country, it is what it is. Clean, lots of places to eat/drink, good base for excursions. Hotel Eden is pleasant enough. Staff are friendly, food is decent, rooms are clean. It's a little basic, but you do get what you pay for! All in all...

Stayed 1 night in this hotel, although slightly hidden but otherwise still a great location. The train & boat stations are just within walking distance. Breakfast was simple yet enough to keep us energize for the day. The window view is amazing too!

The hotel itself is pretty average, but the staff are lovely, the location is fairly good if you're up for a walk or want to hop on the river boat. At the end of a long day exploring, it was just a comfy bed for us and that's all that mattered to us. The breakfast is basic, but okay. I...

I booked this hotel via Amoma (will never use again) and once I arrived the guy at the front desk tells me I was booked "in the other building" and takes us to a separate hotel 5 minutes away. This hotel is only 2 stars and I had never heard the name before. My booking confirmation said Hotel Eden, my...

This little hotel is tucked away just off one of the main streets. It's basic, quite small but clean . The staff are helpful and give good advice. Plus side is the location but downside is you have to pay for the Internet - €3 for 12 hours, but you can't connect in your room so have to sit in...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
