We stayed one night at Ca del Campo and recommend it highly. It is excellently located in central Venice, we were able to walk to the public ferry/water taxis with ease as well as the major attractions and the canals and historic streets. Our room had everything we needed, was scrupulously clean and nicely decorated in a historic theme. We...

Spent one night here at the end of November. People that I met in Italy said there is no way I would find a nice hotel in Venice for a reasonable price - they were wrong. Ca' del Campo is an elegant, unpretentious yet comfortable hotel only a few minutes from San Marco square. Senate (?) was very helpful and...

This hotel is centrally located. It is less than a 10 minutes walk from the San Marco pier. This small boutique hotel reminds me of living in an apartment in New York City where I am from. At the front door, I rang the buzzer and the person on the income ask me to identify myself. After he buzzed me...

The hotel room was quite large and well decorated, had a view of the channel, had very high ceilings and a beautiful chandlier in our room. The coffee was great and the breakfast was good for us but someone complained that the breakfast was not great but we had everything that we wanted for breakfast - we don't need eggs...

Smallish but perfectly positioned hotel 2 minutes stroll from St Marks square. Pleasant staff & spacious rooms. We had a junior suite which had 2 rooms & bathroom. approx 4 levels accessible by stairs or the smallest lift I have ever been in. Very quiet & in a great little spot. It's in a tiny square with shops, alfresco cafes...

This is a small hotel but so well located for sightseeing. Only a 5 minute walk to st marks square and 10 minute walk to Rialto bridge. Very picturesque area with restaurants and shops right on the doorstep. The room was a bit dated but comfortable with aircon and a safe. There was a mini bar but we didn't use...

located in the heart of Venice, this is a beautiful place to stay. The staff and the director were very helpfull. The location was excellent with the water taxi stopping at the front door. Also the hotel is literally a 2 minute stroll to Saint Mac's square.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
