Absolutely stunning hotel. Nice breakfast that can be taken in the small but pretty and quiet garden. Room and overall décor amazing, lovely attention to detail. Location quite good, close to gondola crossing to Rialto market.

My husband and I stayed in Palazzo Abadessa hotel for 3 nights. It was extremely clean, quiet hotel and beautiful area. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the hotel garden. The bathroom was nice but cold. The room itself was lovely decorated but small. The complimentary bottle of champagne and fruit in our room was a nice welcoming....

Stayed in Palazzo Abadessa Hotel for 4 nights (12th to 16th March) for our 30th wedding anniversary. The hotel was beyond our expectations - extremely friendly, helpful staff, beautifully decorated rooms in old venetian style - a true palace! The complimentary bottle of Prosecco and bowl of fresh fruit in our room was a nice touch. Our spacious (classic) room...

Several of our art history group stayed here during our time in Venice and once again were hugely impressed by the beautiful rooms and wonderful service in your hotel. Thank you very much - we look forward to our return!

The decor was incredible as were the friendly, professional staff. The Concierge had an excellent knowledge of the island, regional highlights and current events. I would highly recommend this establishment to those looking for a top quality place to stay in Venice.

We're very glad we stayed at this hotel. Our room, number 16, had a nice garden view, a pretty ceiling with large beams, Murano lamps, and 2 couches. You could occasionally hear guests outside since we overlooked the entrance, and there was occasional muffled singing and some athletic sounds (I guess we were next to a small school), but it...

This is a great hotel. Very easy to get to hotel with the directions they provide. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and polite. The decor is lovely and reminds you of Venice's glorious past. The Managers (father and son from the Philippines) bent over backwards to make our Honeymoon memorable and they upgraded us for free...

From the welcome we received as the water taxi drew in to our departure we were always treated with warmth and courtesy. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to our room and were delighted to have two beautiful rooms to enjoy, each with character aplenty as well as being extremely comfortable. Breakfast was great and the weather was nice...

We have just returned from a stay at this beautiful hotel. From arrival we were made to feel welcomed and valued. We stayed in Room 23 which was a junior suite - it was extremely comfortable and superbly decorated; the bathroom was quite long and narrow and the shower a little cramped but there was no problem. My cousin stayed...

We had another wonderful stay at your beautiful Palazzo and met some lovely people who were also staying there. You manage to create the most welcoming, joyous and contented atmosphere. Thank you for giving us umbrellas to get back to the airport in the pouring rain. We gave them to incoming visitors to Venice who were thrilled to have such...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
