I stayed here for one night after a 12 day cruise. I needed a hotel close to the airport bus and it worked out perfectly. The hotel was great, friendly staff, perfect location. Beds were not the most comfortable ever, but good enough!

great hotel. perfect location, excellent value for money (compared to other hotels in venice) and very friendly staff. our room was very clean, nicely and adequately furnished and had everything we needed for a city trip stay. also the location was great - very easy to reach from the train, bus and within a very short distance from the water...

This hotel is conveniently located for a short break in Venice - it's about 10 min walk from the train station (although over 3 bridges - but that's Venice for you!) and close to the vaporetto as well. We found the location very handy - you're not in the central touristy areas but there's plenty within walking distance, including a...

The Hotel is very well located, really close to the Bus/Train Station (P. le Roma). It has been renovated inside; rooms are comfortable. Great attention. The first day they had an incident on the room we had booked with 6-months in advance, and they booked another Hotel for us for that night; although it was not desirable due to the...

We stayed here at the end of a cruise and loved the convenient location to the port, and bus, train, vaporetto stations. The staff was friendly and we felt it was a great value for the money in Venice.

Great location as others mentioned a mission with big suitcases however a great deal simple but filling breakfast included. Hotel staff friendly also. Can walk anywhere from hotel. Hotel was very noisy and often did get woken up by restaurant directly under hotel and just general noise but not a biggie. Would recommend to others

Very close to the bus and train stations, and to the vaporetto piers. Room was clean and comfortable, and the staff very helpful. Having to go to a local cafe for breakfast was a little disappointing, but good for people-watching. The breakfast was good, but basic. This hotel was perfect for visiting Venice, and very reasonable in an otherwise very...

This is a wonderful little hotel in a great location. Just a short walk from both bus (Piazzale Roma) and train (Santa Lucia) stations. The room was new and clean, fairly good size. It had a safe, hairdryer, air conditioner. Bathroom had a good shower. There is a great restaurant right next store. Breakfast was at a bar nearby -...

This hotel benefits from its proximity to to the train and bus stations in Venice, but also shines because of the rooms themselves and excellent staff. The room we had was unexpectedly large and well appointed. The cleanliness was also a highpoint. We found it easy to walk anywhere in Venice from the Ai Tolentini. The hotel might be hard...

The hotel is well maintained and clean. Rooms are comfortable though the hotel looks very old fashioned from outside. If you have heavy luggage, bear in mind that you have to cross two bridges from outside the railway station when going to the hotel by walk. Rialto bridge is twenty minute walk from the hotel through the narrow lanes. Would...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

“Room 204 (where our friends stayed) was located over alley but not over restaurant below, thus was probably a bit quieter than ours. Don't get me wrong, I had no complaint about the noise level from Room 201 ... but just saying down the hall would have been a little more quiet.”
