Stayed here on 17.1.06 till 20.01.06. Lovely hotel, had the usual superior room but was disappointed not to have a view of the canal. For that you need to be in the suites or the de luxe rooms at much higher cost. The room was lovely and very warm which was welcome as we arrived in the snowstorm. The coffee...

My wife and I stayed in Foscari Palace on 14th and 15th of January, in a double deluxe room. Foscari Palace is a superb hotel where you can find a lovely venecian design and kind people who take care of you. It's just 5 min. to St. Mark Square, 2 min. to Rialto Bridge, and 2 min. to Venice Casinò....

We stayed at hotel during Christmas week. Hotel is small and newly renovated. Common areas in lobby are usable. Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms, we had a suite overlooking the Grand Canal, were large, well decorated, clean and with great beds and bedding. Bathroom was 5 star with all the amenities you could ask for. Staff was helpful. Location was excellent,...

My wife and I spent three nights mid January o6. No need for a protracted review as it has pretty much all been said. Delightful hotel, very well located; warm, spacious room, all very clean; staff very friendly and helpful; breakfast superb. A couple of do's and don'ts in our opinion - Do book the Foscari with confidence, terriffic value:...

We have just returned from a four day Christmas trip to Venice and stayed in the Foscari Palace for the duration. While it is a perfectly nice hotel it has zero atmosphere or ambience and is just like any other newly renovated hotel you find all over Europe. It was very disappointing in that despite the fact that it is...

Management response:

Probably, we shouldn't care answering this sort of reviews but it's a shame that the overall attention we try to give to our guests be so underestimated. What we may say is that our job and business is renting hotel rooms and making our guests' stays as comfortable as possible: besides that, we are not into entertainments of any kind,...

Spent one night here with the family in mid December. Not for the first time, I consulted Trip Advisor and booked on the basis of reviews found on this site. Once again, I wasn’t disappointed by the selection. As pointed out in previous reviews, it is a VERY good hotel. The rooms are well appointed, the location good (on the...

The Foscari Palace Hotel deserves a high rating. The staff is excellent, the rooms are beautiful, the breakfast hearty, the waiters handsome and the location perfect. We stayed here in December 2005, Venice weather was in the 40's and 50's, colder at night. Hotel is 2 minutes from C'D'Or vaporetto (waterbus) stop. Easy to find with the right direction. Rooms...

One year after from our first stay at Foscari Palace, we returned there and stayed 01 - 04 December. Things were as great as last year. The same staff (good sign), couteous and helpful. A girl at the reception even playful (in a good way) with me because she remembered me. She was the one who gave me very detailed...

We stayed here for 3 nights for a birthday celebration and would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The location is great - 1 minute from a water bus stop, or a short walk from the Rialto bridge and St Mark's Square. We booked a superior double room which was well equipped with flat screen satellite tv, very comfortable twin beds and...

We stayed in the Foscari Palace for 3 nights from 29/11/05. Having read the Trip Advisor reviews we actually changed our booking to this hotel and were very pleased we did. The hotel's standards are excellent. We had a big room on the top floor and if there was any fault it was that the heating was not quite powerful...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
