In the heart of Venice, there is this small hotel that gives you the chance to stay in rooms with venetian style. The room and bathroom were clear, spotless! The owner and her daughter are really kind and welcome! We had to arrange a different flight, in the middle of the night because of a national strike and the owner...

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and this must be the best value that we have ever had in Venice. The Mother and daughter are lovely and friendly. The room was huge and the furnishings were great. Everything was clean and the location was really central. Well worth a visit.

Venice is a pricey place. You need to break out the credit card for a coffee and a pizza, the Gondola prices are fixed and outrageous and it costs 1.5 euros to use the council toilets ... that's over $2 Australian so you need to make it worthwhile. But it's a beautiful place for all that ... and where else...

This guesthouse is very centrally located and very close to all the main sights yet down a quiet alleyway. We stayed here for a week and had a lovely blue room - 105, which was spacious for my teenage son and I. It was quiet and tranquil when we needed to get away from the crowds. Elisabeta is very welcoming...

We booked in after 8 pm and it was no problem. The location is excellent and walking distance from St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. Management very helpful and friendly. Breakfast delivered to our door each morning in the form of picnic basket with what one has requested for breakfast when booked in.

This lovely little B&B is a perfect solution for a stay in Venice if you're looking for comfort for affordable prices. Ideally located - most of Venice's landmarks are only 5-10 minutes away (San Marco square, Rialto, Fenice theater etc.) and the hotel street itself is calm, with a beautiful view from the room windows. There are restaurants, bars, supermarkets,...

The location was unbeatable since we had tickets to the Opera and this is just a few meters from the Fenice theatre. The hotel staff was friendly and even gave us an upgrade because of my birthday. The room was ample and clean. Breakfast was basic - coffee, toasts and a pastry but it was good. However the room lacked...

Charming little hotel near St Marks. Room is very comfortable and breakfast delivered every morning to the room. Hotel director speaks wonderful English. Stop thinking, book it. Just take note of the address. Do not rely on your Sat Nov as Google have the street wrong.

We found this hotel using trip advisor so it's only appropriate we pay it forward.. Very surprised when we arrived as I suppose I was expecting it to have smaller rooms and not be as nice. We received directions by email and they were spot on, we had no dramas finding the hotel. Breakfast was sufficient, being from Australia it...

If you love short city breaks, you'll appreciate the pains and frustrations, along with the 'ummmming' and 'arrrrrrring' when cautiously considering options that tick all the boxes! This is just the place. A real gem of a find, underated and probably underpriced, this has everything for an intimate, authentic, traditional stay right in the heart of Venice, with all the...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
