This hotel is not very well maintained and the sheets smells like a nursing home with old people's smell. Bathrooms are full of mould and the receptionist, the blond one with a Cartier watch, is very rude and can't care less about the hotel than herself. Shame!!!

We had a bad experience while checked in the hotel as we had to ring the door bell repeatedly, then the door was opened by manager. Initially he didn't find our booking, then there was minor discrepancy whereby we were cheated by our local agent. The manager started behaving rudely with us pointing finger towards us and addressed as 'you... More

We stayed here for 3 nights based on Rick Steve's recommendation. I'd wager Rick hasn't been here for a long time. The location is great mind you, but the room smelled moldy and musty, likely due to the inadequate bathroom ventilation. Plus, mosquitos in the room every night likely coming in from the funky vent tube to the outside. I... More

What was actually an OK stay was spoiled by the unpleasant attitude of the lady receptionist/manger on duty when we came back to the hotel to collect our cases and to get ready to travel. She refused to allow us to shower despite being assured the previous day that we could. We were grudgingly allowed to use a bathroom to... More

If you're looking for the essentials with great location, this is it. The room was quiet. The room was clean. Coffee machine in lobby. Didn't bother when down the street you can get a good cup. No breakfast. Really.... how much time do you spend in your room!? I would stay here again. I'm not high maintenance. : ) I... More

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend in August. The location was really good, only 10 mins or so from the train station and walking distance of all the main attractions. Check in process was fine and we were given a map and directions of places worth visiting. The room/linens etc was a bit run down and the shower... More

This has to be the worst hotel in Europe. Words fail me to say anything good about this absolute dump of a place. When I had complaints the night clerk referred me to the manager (owner) who didn't care about the customers or the staff. The room I booked was switched on arrival, the beds were hard, there was no... More

Pros: - Close to railway station, Marcuola vaporetto stop, and a main road of shops and restaurants yet very quiet - Clean rooms, decent beds, good AC - Cheap coffee machine in lobby that actually makes better coffee than some cafes - Quiet and shaded seating area in front of hotel Cons: - Rooms very small (When we arrived we... Stayed here for three nights over the May bank holiday weekend with my boyfriend. The room was fairly basic but has everything we needed, hotel was clean and simple with very friendly staff. The best thing was definitely the location of the hotel, which was perfect for the train station, water bus, restaurants, and just walking around exploring! The wifi... More

The location is great and I thoroughly recommend it. The hotel itself is small and fairly old and I'm pretty sure that it's just a few rooms on the ground floor but I can't be sure - our room was street level. However, the WiFi is really good and if you're just looking to stay in a great location with... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
