We were waiting for the host for long in a cafe nearby and she came sat and stared drinking wine while we were waiting in the cold outside. The staff did not care about anything but money she asked for money before even helping us to the room. The heater in the room was not working and when we asked...

I suppose you get what you pay for, although I've stayed in much nicer places for cheaper. The room was large and we got a complimentary tea/coffee tray. The bathroom was clean. The location of the apartment is decent, then again it is Venice so anywhere is close and within a walking distance. The double bad was, in fact, two...

The check in and hotel is two different two places. The receptionist is friendly, one plus point for that but for other aspects, I wish we go for other hotel actually. As we reached hostel, we spent almost 5 minutes just to learn how to open the main door. The room door is broken and was just covered by sellotape....

None of what I found at this place was by far what I was supposed to find. My room was actually a kitchen. As such it included a laundry machine where the personnel washed all the linnet while I was away. And the worst of all, without me knowing!!! Nobody had told me about that and I fortunately found out...

This was the worst room I've ever stayed at! - Horrible cigarette smell that would not leave and stayed on our clothes - Dirty sheets with hair on the pillows - we had a queen + single bed and the single bed was a 3-inch mattress, extremely uncomfortable Everything was just disgusting!

After late arrival and a check-in on the other side of Venice a "surprise" was waiting in the tiny room - a stinky bed with bedclothes clearly not changed from the previous guests. More then that. Next day I've contacted them about the "issue", but the answer was plain simple: "Our cleaning lady is sure she had changed it.". Just...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
