We got upgraded which probably helped with the experience. But Ai Reali is an incredible place. You can arrive and leave by boat, see gondolas from your room or from the breakfast area. The staff was attentioned and pleasant. Oh and you are in Venice the most beautiful city in the world, 5 mn walk away from the Rialto. Will...

We stayed at Ai Reali for four nights in early January. I had booked a Junior Suite and had specifically asked for a room with blue décor. My wish was granted. Both rooms of the suite were pleasing to the eye and spacious. The bed was so comfortable and room temperature perfect for sleeping. Great marble bathroom - fantastic shower...

Could not fault this hotel. The location is excellent - very central to everything in Venice. The staff were extremely helpful, both via email prior to our stay and when we arrived. The breakfast was excellent and the service was wonderful. The facilities at the hotel are highly recommended and the rooms were very spacious.

This lovely hotel is very well located and and easy walk to many fabulous places. Despite this, it's very quiet, even over New Year. We stayed for a week in a lovely room (304) which had plenty of power points, including by the bed. Breakfast is great with a wide range of choices, and the bar is ideal for a...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
