A nicely located small hostel which makes you feel at home. Hygienic room, clean common area & kitchen. Our host, Mirabella was fantastic to help us find & roam around every where in the town. Very nice wood fired Pizza at 5 minute walking, centrally located close to main attraction.

I stayed at this hostel in May 2015 with my partner and 4 friends for a long weekend away. My partner and i booked a private room and our friends stayed in one of the dorms. A welcoming atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff. Centrally located, very clean and tidy. A home from home. Not a party atmosphere if that is...

I have slept in a 2 persons dorm therefore my feedback come strictly form this experience. The price was really good compared to any other similar accommodations in Venice, easy to find , if you enter the link provided on their site you cannot miss it, it is 4 min from San Marco Square. The bathroom was clean all the...

The reason I gave this place more than one star was for the location, which is excellent - very close to St Mark's Square. Other than that we were bitterly disappointed. Firstly, the staff are not very welcoming. Mirabella has a serious attitude problem, she refused to help us with our airport transfer on the last day and called us...

We stayed for 3 nights. Bed was full of dog hair, realised when we woke up with white hair all over our shirts. Bath room door lock was damaged. Staff Mirabella attitude was very poor throughout, instead of helping us with the bathroom door lock, she was questioning why we made noices trying to turn the key, and took the...

Less than 5 minutes from San Marco square, took a bit longer to find it but that will happen anywhere in Venice. Well furnished, friendly staff, good sized kitchen, Free wifi worked perfectly and free coffee. Everywhere in Venice costs more than your average city and I don't think there will be many better deals than this all things considered.

as a very social female solo traveller, I didn't quite realise when I booked this hostel just how 'boutique' it was so I was a little disappointed that there was absolutely no social scene. There were maybe 10 beds in the entire hostel, which was a beautifully furnished and recently renovated venetian apartment. Location was absolutely tops, right near san...

I booked 2nights at Boutique San Marco. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom very clean, WiFi available, very good location. Unfortunately they charge you for late arrival (10€) even though it wasn't my fault, my flight was delayed, couldn't find the hotel, the phone number given on trip advisor or booking is wrong so couldn't get any help so it delayed...

I've stayed there for 3 days 2 nights, at first the place was slightly hard to find as it is located in a small alley. Convenient location, there is a great pasta takeaway located just at the end of the alley. The facilities were good, and the bathroom was huge. The room was spacious and the lady working there was...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
