B&B da Nina is a very nice place to stay while in Venice. First, it is very easy to reach from Piazzale Roma without crossing so many bridges when carrying heavy luggages. Second, check-in is very easy because once you see the Restorante de Nino, that's where you will get your keys. The gracious staff will escort you to the...

The owner was kind enough to hold our luggage until our room was ready while we went out to explore. She gave us a fantastic map and highlighted the best path for us to use to get where we wanted to go. The map came in VERY handy at night. Our room had an attached bathroom, but it was up...

The location was hard to find the first time, but it is very close to the bus/train station. The owner, Nina, was very friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to store our luggage the morning of check out so we could see more of the city without dragging our bags along. The Grand Canal was walking distance from the B&B....

I was looking for a reasonably priced Bed and Breakfast in a quieter area of Venice than I have stayed on 2 previous visits. The Da Nina fit the bill on all counts. It was close to the train station and the vaporetto stop. It was well priced, a real value, and located in San Croce, on a very quiet...

This B&B is very close to the station, so very convenient for not crossing a lot of bridges carrying your luggage in and out of the city. It is well located on a quiet alley, and you can easily walk or take the vaporetto to wherever you're going. The place is very simple, but the room was spacious and quiet,...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

“If taking a cruise ship as part of your vacation, walk to the small bridge/ pathway located on the west side that eventually leads to the Piazza Roma bus station instead of going over the scalzi bridge.
