We stayed in Al Saor for 3 days in March 2011. We arrived at night, but everything had been arranged for our arrival beforehand: we got the code to the guesthouse and our room was ready and open. The owner and the staff were really welcoming and the breakfast they provided was simply excellent. The same is true regarding the...

Excellent service, good location, very clean and nice breakfast. Wonderful lady that runs the place makes it an exceptional choice.

My wife and I stayed at Al Saor b&b for a week in October. Best buy for the money I could find. What a perfect location, less than two minutes to the vaporetta stop and lots of nearby restaurants. The only McDonald's in Venice is just 120 steps away if you need a quick hamburger. The room we occupied was...

Great location, quiet but just off Strada Nova. Just a short walk from the vaporetto stop. Friendly staff--the waitress made a special trip to the store to get the flavor of yogurt we had requested. Nice spacious rooms, the photos online don't do them justice. Only drawback was bad instant coffee at breakfast. Highly recommended.

This B&B in in the center of Venezia, a few minutes to everywhere, it´s the perfect base to explore the lovely city of Venezia. The people are very friendly and nice. We got the room on the ground floor, it is spacious room but its not a good choice: you cant watch tv from the bed, cause its above the...

Great place. Clean, good breakfast, comfortable room. Nice terrace for having breakfast. Location is great. Vaporetto from train station leaves you at a very short walking distance and with no bridge or stairs in the way to the hotel door. It's a short walk to the Rialto bridge and even to Piazza San Marco if you prefer walking, although taking...

I vacation in Venice once a year and have stayed at numerous B&B's. This one by far is the best location. Very clean and great value for the money. It is in a prime location, but just off the main path so it is quiet at night. Two minute walk to the fish market, five minute walk to Rialto bridge,...

We stayed in an apartment rented through the B&B. It was nice to have room to relax and a kitchen to cook if we wanted, or just store our food. The air conditioning was excellent, and in Europe this isnt always the case. It was nice to have our own space and live like a local. The apartment had everything...

I stayed with my partner and another couple in the 2 room apartment for 2 nights in June. It met all our requirements, and after doing a fair bit of searching for budget accomodation in Venice, this seemed like great value for money and I'm really glad we found it. (We paid 120euro for the apartment (four people), per night)....

Going to Venice means to me being outside discovering and walking through this beautiful city, so B&B's are the perfect option to stay: a good breakfast and a cozy place to crash at night that is so quiet that it allows you to sleep well. This is precisely what Al Saor offers. The rooms are nice and are decorated with...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
