Reviews not good however really impressed. Staff lovely and helpful and though lift being renovated no issue for staff to bring cases to room and bring down when leaving. No restaurant though breakfast was very efficient and plentiful. Brilliant location, clean and very comfortable
As soon as we arrived we were checked in quickly and the receptionist was very helpful and gave us lots of useful information regarding trips, using the boat taxis etc. The staff couldn't do enough to help everyone. For breakfast there was a wide variety...More
As the title mentions the location of this place is perfect and close to everything plus the staff was so nice and warm, the staff made this place for me. The wifi was good enough and free and the breakfast ok. The only mark against...More

Great location off of a historic square. Short walk to Saint Marc's square. Enjoyed vaporetta ride to the hotel. Reach hotel from St. marked and not Rialto bridge for shorter walk. Historic feel and windows opened to square for cool breeze. Wonderful breakfast.

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Sorry, forgot to mention that private water taxis can also be hired at the airport and leave from a landing stage within walking distance - although it is a bit of a walk, you can't get lost as there is pretty good signage. Try to book your water taxi before you go to ensure that one will be waiting for you - even less hassle when you arrive at Marco Polo. The journey across the lagoon into Venice and right to your hotel by private water taxi, in my opinion, is well worth the cost and a wonderful start to the holiday.
