So we know Venice well, but always stay in an apartment due to family connections. This time was different due to it being our Honeymoon and deciding to treat ourselves. And what a perfect treat it was. Initially worried about how extravagant we were being...More
This hotel contributed to changing our opinion about the city of Venice. We stayed there a few years ago and always plan on going back. Before, we avoided the city. We got to understand the cool side of this city, from the valuable tips that...More
Ca Maria Adele is one of the most beautifully designed hotels we have visited. It forgoes the current hotel trend of sleek modern design by presenting old world Italian design elements blended with pieces one would have gathered on voyages to Morocco, Persia, and the...More
We spent two glorious nights at this very special hotel. The location is superb and very quiet away from the bustling tourists in the centre of Venice but still close enough to walk everywhere or get water taxis or the water bus. The room was...More

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

You can take a water taxi, which can be quite pricy, but will get you directly to the hotel, and the hotel can make arrangements for you. Or you can purchase a multi-day pass on the Vaparetto, which is very economical, but will take you much longer and possibly a transfer or two to arrive at the hotel.
