I took my partner to Venice for her birthday as we had both wanted to visit this amazing city. We stayed at the Hotel Ca d Oro which is a small and friendly hotel. The staff are lovely. Our room was on the third floor and was lovely and clean, but basic (all you need for a short break). The...

We stayed 2 nights here in March. It was our first visit to Venice and thoroughly enjoyed it. However we arrived by train and it is quite a walk from the station. Our room was nice with both a bath and shower. However, the temperature in the room was too hot and we were told by the lady at reception...

Near to two vaporetta stops and lovely junior suite BUT breakfast very disappointed with breakfast only one cheese offered and two meat choices too simple for price charged Breakfast room rather like an airport cafeteria and tiny tables too close together not a pleasant experience on our last day no tables were available due to not being cleared

This was our first stay in Italy and it was a good start! We reached here from the Airport by the water bus. The stop is a short walk up to the hotel. The only problem is dragging your trolley on the cobbled roads :D But it is pretty close by from all the tourist spots and the Santa Lucia station....

Cosy, nice, clean, tidy hotel in the heart of venezia! Nice rooms, warm in winter, weather was really bad when we visited and it was really nice to come back to warm room & hot shower! Would recommend this hotel. Reason for dropped star. Carpets throughout the hotel need to be renewed, stains and the carpets are faded & worn....

Christmas gift from our daughter two nights at the Hotel Ca'd'Oro. Highly recommend this hotel. Central to everything. The hotel was charming, friendly and absolutely spotless. Beautiful crisp cotton bedding and very clean bathroom. We had a room over looking the canal. The staff were very helpful from reception to breakfast waiter. The breakfast was continental but very filling and...

Located in close proximity to the vaporetto. The small lobby, nice reception, fast check-in. Room small, nicely decorated. Beds comfortable. The hotel works well WiFi network. The bathroom is not thought the location of the shower. Breakfast is basic, tasty. Do you would visit this hotel again? - Yes.

There have been a lot of comments regarding the start rating of this hotel. I stay in hotels for over 100 nights a year, ranging from 2* pensions to 5* luxury hotels. Please take it from me that this is a 3* hotel however it delivers everything in the brochure; mainly to good effect. The Hotel Ca' D'Oro has a...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
