The location of this hotel is great- not too far from the train station (either about a 15-20min walk or 5 minute ride by the water taxi (#1) which stops at Ca D'Oro near the hotel. It is also easy to walk to Rialto bridge and San Marco from here. The rooms at the hotel are a little bigger than...

This is a small and ideal little hotel. It offers a lovely continental breakfast with lovely coffee. The staff were really nice and helpful. We had a lovely stay. Our room and hotel is small which was as we expected and as you explore Venice you will see that a lot of venues in Venice are small. The location is...

The room is sufficient. I have spent one week here. (12/24-12/31) I did not have a reservation and they had to move me around a bit so I could stay here the entire time. Once you find it, it is in a very good location. I am nursing a healing broken leg and have not had to push it much...

Unfortunately our stay was for only one night after a cruise. Our room just across from the Christmas decorated front door was large and comfortable. The location is handy to either water transportation, shops, coffee and restaurants. Because our ship docked very late due to heavy fog we did not have time to go far but it is walking distance...

I chose to rent the apartment (Laguna Rossa) for a group of 5 travellers. This is situated about 10mins from the hotel which they do not tell you about when booking. The Good: - Cheap rates - Apartment is situated by the pier near the Fondamente Nove stop. The Bad: - Poor organisation by hotel. We were not told that...

Everything was perfect but after the previous guest had left the tea/ coffee/ milk was not replenished. It was a raining and found that this property unlike the main Mignon Hotel did not have any umbrella to...

This hotel is good value for money has air con, ensuite rooms and a reasonable continental breakfast. Staff are really helpful and pleasant and rooms are small but comfortable. The hotel is at the start of the Strada nova and within a 3 minute walk from Rialto.

Hotel had been great. Highly recommend staying on top floor even though there is no elevator as we had private balcony to sit and drink wine. There is a bell tower that goes off at 7 am but we got up early everyday to maximize our visit anyways. Breakfast was really great. Lots of selection including different pastries, selection of...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
