Located in one of Venice's many tiny narrow streets, it is very central and you can walk to everything from the hotel. Our room was huge, with beautiful old style furniture and chandelier. The hall outside our room was also beautiful with a large wooden table and chandelier with guidebooks to borrow. We went on a Hidden Venice boat trip... More

The hotel is located a few minutes walk from Ca D'Oro in a nice and quiet area. We dreaded to get room 3 with the seperat bathroom. Luckily we got room no 5, which was excellent with plenty of space, nice furniture, a decent sized bathroom and a fresh cooling aircon (although very noisy during the night). The breakfast is... Fantastic location and value for money. As first time visitors to Venice, We found it easy to get to from the main train station. The service was very personable and helpful with lots of local tips and welcoming smiles. The complimentary continental breakfast served at your time of choosing to your room was a big bonus. We look forward to... More

Located in a small street off Campo S. Apostoli. Near most you want to see in Venice. Near a vaporetto stop - Ca'd Oro. Just a very short walk to Rialto. It has a Catholic Church nearby. The place has the feel of a Venice Merchant house of old. Our huge family room for 4 had an ornate Murano chandelier!... More

Exactly the place i was looking for. No fuss, charming and discreet. The location's perfect. The feel's for those who prefer quiet, non-touristy locations where local residents reside nearby. Rialto is just 5 minutes walk away, San Marco maybe 15 if you know exactly where to pass through. Al Ferrovia, Guglie and the Jewish Ghetto district are also walkable. Thoroughly... More

I did ask to change as I had not booked a room with a separate bathroom, which to get to u had to go through the dinning room Was told it was a budget hotel and although I had not opted for... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in May. It was a little difficult to find (down a small "alley") but the sign was lit at night which helped. We stayed in the triple room on the top (2nd) floor. It was a very comfortable room, with a door separating the main bedroom and the fold out chair bed... More

Room was big enough for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Clean and well-kept with good heating as we visited during the cooler season. The chandelier and furniture were beautiful and adds to the authenticity of a Venetian accommodation. Close to Ca'd oro stop which was convenient for tourists dragging suitcases with them. Staff were kind and served... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
