We visited Mid-June, 2011 This is a hidden gem! Our host were very pleasant and accommodating. The room is exactly as shown on the website. Very comfortable and immaculate. There was a safe, TV, air conditioning and refrigerator in our room! YES!!!! The breakfasts were delightful. There was juice, coffee, tea, bottled water, cereals, cheeses, meats, jams and delicious croissants...

We stayed at the B&B Al Teatro for 5 nights in August . It is in a fantastic position a couple minutes walk from the vaporetto stop ( Giglio) and from St Marks Square. Our room was large, bright and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was also a decent size with all mod cons. The room was decorated beautifully had three...

We stayed in AL TEATRO Bed and Breakfast for two nights in September. No detail was overlooked - room was spacious and modern with a flat panel TV (multiple english channels), double bed, desk, and full built in wadrobe. The room was the best we had our entire two week trip. Eleonora was a wonderful hostess. The location is spectacular...

Al Teatro was a delightful experience. Eleonora was helpful and gracious host Who welcomed us warmly into her home. Our room was beautiful, spacious and spotlessly clean, with a nice view that looked out onto a quiet canal. I also can't praise the ensuite bathroom enough. It had a lovely, large glass-enclosed shower that was big enough that you didn't...

A very well located and well priced B & B. Just spent 5 nights there in March 2011. Great find! The B&B is two minutes walking far from water bus stop - Giglio- and there are not bridges to cross with luggage. The directions provided were also good. Our ensuite room was lovely and everything was spotless. Breakfast was also...

This was our second time in Venice and we had booked Al Teatro based on the reviews on Fodor's and Trip Advisor. After a very long and exhausting flight we were warmly greeted by Eleonora upon our arrival. We stayed 3 nights in the Pink room which has a wonderful king-sized bed, modern tile bathroom with towel warmer, shower with...

We had a fantastic time in Venice in November. Made all the more enjoyable by staying in Al Teatro and the advice from Eleonora, especially on where to eat. Our accommodation could not be faulted and the breakfast set us up for the day. The bedroom was perfect for two adults and two energetic children. Hopefully it won't be too...

What more could you want from a B&B? Firstly, the booking process via email was very efficient and stress free. Eleonora was very accommodating about our delayed arrival and extremely welcoming. The location is perfect, nice quiet back street, easy to find and within walking distance of everything. The room was large, immaculately clean and the bed was comfy. Breakfast...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
