We had an excellent stay at Ca' San Trovaso (ca is short for casa, the Italian word for house). We had the large quad room downstairs. The B&B is recently remodeled, and it is in a really nice style. Our view was street level, which...More
This quaint hotel is in a great location away from noise and tourists but it also means it took us a little longer to get to the popular sites. We didn't mind though because we loved roaming the tiny streets of Venice! The owners are...More
We loved our stay in San Trovaso and would highly recommend it to future guests (we found it in Rick Steeves book and hence you can't go wrong!). Skip sleeping in San Marco; it's a 5 minute walk to cross the bridge to be in...More
We LOVED the location of this beautiful place! So quiet and peaceful, yet minutes from anything you'd care to see or do. Alessandra was incredibly helpful and extremely accommodating. We can't say enough positive things about our stay here. We will DEFINITELY be back!!
We booked through Trip Advisor and had frequent updates from Alessandra, the owner of the property. We were provided an excellent map to help us locate the hotel, and found it on our own with little difficulty after taking the vapors to from the train...More
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

You have to take the Allilaguna service from the airport to get to the central part of Venice. You will then need to change to one of the vaporetto routes that will get you to the Zattere stop. From there it is about a ten minute walk to the hotel. Alessandra, the hotel manager will send you a map. You will have to cross a couple of hump backed bridges to get there (you have to do that regardless of which hotel you choose). The other alternative is to take a water taxi direct from the airport to the hotel, or near the hotel. That is very expensive.
