We have stayed in really good hotels in past, but this is the best. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast buffet catered for all tastes and was always well stocked. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was huge and VERY comfortable. I'm quite large, but the shower...

Great hotel in a quiet neighborhood in the Cannargio district in Venice. The staff is super helpful with great recommendations for dinner and any sight seeing trips. Perfect place to have a canal side drink before dinner.

A really lovely hotel, very clean, very comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. It is about 30 mins walk to St Marks or 5mins walk to the Orto vaporetto stop which will take you to St Marks on the 4.2 vaporetto. Lots of restaurants and shops within easy reach of the hotel but it is in a quiet location with...

The hotel is located in a quieter area of Venice which is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the main touristy areas. It's a mini bridge away from local shops, wine bars and restaurants. The hotel is then a 20 minute walk to places like St Mark's square or to the Rialto bridge. It's...

We found the quickest way to reach Ai Mori d'Oriente from Marco Polo airport was by boat (Alilaguna, signposted from the airport by blue signs saying transport via water). The trip takes between 20 and 30 minutes. The hotel is just a five minute walk from the first stop (Madonne dell) Orto. The hotel is on a quiet quay (Fondamenta...

We were booked here as a special gift from our kids for my Wife's 50th Not having visited Venice before we followed the phone satnav which took us down some dark streets. However in the light of day we realised it was very easy to find the hotel from the bus and train station and to be fair the hotel...

This hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood and was an easy walk (10-15 min) from the train station. It is near many places to eat. It is a 30 minute walk to St. Mark's Square and about 15 minutes from Rialto bridge. The hotel is well kept and the staff was helpful. They arranged transportation for us to go...

Very clean and quiet, staff were all very friendly and helpful. My wife is coeliac and they provided her with a selection of gluten free biscuits and crackers each morning at breakfast and happily provided her own bowl of fruit and her own plate of bacon and eggs so that there was no risk of cross contamination. Would not hesitate...

Our room (classic double in a new wing?.) was not particularly big and the balcony had no view but in all other respects was faultless. Excellent storage, bathroom and good lighting (a rare event!) Breakfast was generous and varied (excellent coffee too) and we loved the peaceful neighbourhood with easy access to grand canal and Orto boat station. Lots of...

What a fabulous little hotel. Stayed here with friends for a city break to celebrate my 50th. Recommended by our travel agent, we were not disappointed. In the old Jewish quarter of Venice, this lovely hotel was a great place to stay. Only 5 minutes walk from the 'ferry' stop from the airport and 20 minute brisk walk/40 minute stroll...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
