It was difficult for us to find the hotel initially, but it is in a great location being close to the Rialto Bridge. The rooms were huge and we had a view of the Grand Canal. The rooms had very old style windows which pushed open and were a little tricky to shut completely. The bathrooms were tiny but functional....

This place met our expectations, as we stayed in the red room and had a view of the Grand Canal. It was exactly like the photo, and minutes from the Rialto Bridge. The location was excellent and the hostess (not the owner) was incredible; so friendly, helpful, thoughtful! Venice hotels are expensive, and this was to be a treat. However,...

Location absolutely perfect, “everything” is at walking distance. Note on arrival that the alley (calle) is the first one after the ”Fiaschetteria Toscana” (if you come from the Rialto bridge). Once in the alley you follow it and turn to the right, then to the left and then you’ll find Morosini at your right hand (a door in the wall...

Worst hotel we checked into in our three weeks in Italy. Stayed two hours. No heat, old worn out beds and furniture, no amenities. This is the equivalent of a thirty dollar hotel in the USA. Tried to bill us $185, for the two hour. Demanding a refund from my credit card company. Moved over to Hotel Giorgione which was...

The hotel is spacious but the bathrooms are tiny. There is no elevator, which made it difficult to get our luggage to our room. The attendant did offer to help but because she was a woman I didn't see how it would be any easier for her. Anyway, the room, while spacious, was a bit dingy and dated. There was...

We liked everything - location, hotel, room, responsive and friendly staff who speak English. The hotel is next to the Rialto Bridge and is a good base for sightseeing. Stayed there for 4 days, and did not need any transport, only to get to the airport, everything else is within walking distance. There are many cafes and inexpensive eateries in...

My partner and I were at the Lion Morosini Palace for four nights in October. We were more than happy with the place which is very well run by Flora, Debora and the owner Paulo. Our room was large with an en-suite bathroom, a free safe. We were surprised that breakfast was included as this was not mentioned on the...

We stayed here one night as Paolo's other property Santa Sofia was full when we wanted to extend our stay. Can only think of positive points: - Fantastic location near Rialto Bridge. - Big rooms with a lovely view of the Grand Canl with ensuite bathrooms - Breakfast which is sufficient to start your day. - Fantastic team of workers...

This is a tiny but lovely hotel with a wonderful location (very close to the rialto bridge and the water bus stop as well) and the service was great! We had booked a room with a canal view, which is exactly what we got. There were also private stairs from there, which we could take without going through the hotel...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
