We were here for two nights, and while we each paid €100 for the stay (pricey) it was totally worth it! We had a clean bathroom that we shared with others still, (but it was clean!) and we got our own room with a view of a Venice street. The room itself was clean cozy. Our only complaint would be...

We stayed here in August. Lady in reception was really nice n gave us a good recommendation on local seafood restaurant. But... we had to wait around 15min in heat outside with other people to check in. Room on its own was really small n dark. Bathroom was shared. No proper breakfast. Instead of u get a snack in a...

Great location, but that's the only thing worthwhile about this place. Self-serve laundry nearby. Restaurants nearby. Easy to get water taxi from here, thus easy to get to all local attractions Enough said.

I booked this place only about 6 weeks before travelling, having decided at the very last minute to join a group of friends who had already booked their respective hotels back in January. I spent a very frustrating few days trying to find somewhere that was in Venice itself, and not a 20 minute bus ride away, and would actually...

Stayed for a couple of nights on a short trip to Venice. Welcomed by Flavio, a helpful receptionist who speaks excellent English. Reception is a few meters away from your actual room. Wi-fi was good and breakfast consisted of store-bought croissants and fruit juice. Access to major tourist spots is easy with transport hub Piazzale Roma a few hundred meters...

First of all, the 'apartment' (one room with one double bed and one very uncomfortable bunk bed, a collapsing kitchen and an okay bathroom) is nowhere close to the reception. You are given the reception's address but, once you check in, you find out (with luggage etc) that actually, the apartment you rented is on the complete different side of...

There are many things to say about this so-called "hotel" : - First, the reception hours are a bit complicated to deal with : from 9am to 13am and from 3:30pm to 7pm if I remember correctly. That means you have to be careful about your arrival time. - The location of the reception wasn't clearly indicated. We only managed...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
