It was hard to find a boat to take us so we ended up walking over a mile in very hot, summer heat! We arrived late, nobody was available to greet us. The room was very small and cramped, however, it was clean. The bathroom window offered no privacy and looked directly into the neighbor's bedroom! Breakfast was very disappointing...

I got a cheap room, but ut was the economy room.(in fact , after having stayed in other places , now I realise that it was not that cheap). The economy room has a very bad smell, I felt like vomiting all the time. I gave 3 stars coz lady Natalie was nice and breakfast good.

We stayed here for six days in October while touring northern Italy. The property is well maintained and the room we had was quite spacious. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the daily in-room breakfast was quite nice. There were a couple of issues with the room, like the shower being too small but overall it was a nice...

Our room was comfortable but the shower was ancient and didn't work properly. They serve an 'industrial' breakfast in the room . Packet juice drinks and factory made bread, processed cheese and cheap yoghurt. Reception only open until early afternoon so late arrivals are sent a code and a phone number. This works if you are able to have access...

I usually rate accommodation on a value for money scale, this was a birthday gift from my boyfriend so I am unable to do this for this accommodation. When we arrived there was no receptionist and we had to check ourselves in. The door to our room (room 2) was located in reception with u wasn't very happy about (due...

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. At the time of booking, the price seemed reasonable however closer to our holiday, found other deals which made it seem like we paid a lot of money for not very much. Pros: Great Location, Easily accessible from/to the Airport via Fondamente Nouve ferry station, WiFi was working when we were there We...

Venice itself was okay, we came during mosquito season and where the weather was VERY hot (35C/90F) but the hotel had no air conditioning. It was unbearable sleeping at night with 4 of us in a room (one double bed and one sofa bed). We asked for it to be fixed but to no avail. Not even a fan! The...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We found the room to be nice and spacious, and equipped with everything you need. Wifi is included for free, and breakfast is served at your convenience in the room! The hotel is an easy walk from the Piazza San Marco. Great restaurants around as well. Really a good choice for your...

Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights. It's a cozy place and nicely decorated in Venetian theme. Talking from other guests who stayed there in the room next to us, seems like the owner has changed. The reason I bring this up is because while we stayed, the Internet was down during the whole stay (3 days), both us...

We stayed here in September 2014 and couldn't have asked for a better stay. Venice can be expensive and touristy, and this was the opposite. It was so reasonably priced and was in a great location - close to the major sights but off the beaten track enough that you felt like a local. The view outside our room was...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
