Stayed for just one night in this B&B which is just a short walk from Rialto Bridge. I always try to be fair and objective so overall I have to say I was disappointed with the stay. Yes, in Venice space is at a premium...More
Rio Alto is small and basic yes, but for the price you pay, you couldn't ask for more. My friend and I had the 'green' room which had two single beds, a TV, a cupboard, a desk and a beautiful view of a little canal....More
We stayed here for a weekend in June 2014. It was reasonably priced for Venice. Whilst basic, it was clean and in a superb location. Breakfast was continental and served outside the room which meant you could pick it up when you wanted. Our room...More
We enjoyed our stay, it is more of a B&B experience than a hotel. The rooms were clean and the location was amazing, just a couple of mins stroll to the Rialto bridge. We stayed in the triple room which was fantastic as the 3rd...More
Like the other posts read, you have to check in at a separate Hotel. Not a big deal, they email you a map. The streets in Venice are maze-like so finding the check-in hotel was a bit confusing. Finding Rio Alto was not.
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
