We just recently returned from a 14 night stay in Italy and we stayed at the B&B Casanova ai Tolentini for 2 nights. I woke up the first night and realized that I had bites on me...thinking they were from a mosquito, but soon figured out after many more big red bumps appeared on my body over the next few...

Dear Guest, Thank you to spent time reviewing our B&B, we would like just to underline that our maid clean the rooms daily and change towels and sheets ( that cames from a proffesione laundry in vaccun package ) . We are very proud of the cleaness of the rooms and our clients too. Nontheless when you reported us this...

I would first like to say that the man who worked the front desk at Hotel Florida was a tremendous help and deserves a big compliment. His English skills were superb and he answered all of our questions on Venice. The Bed and Breakfast is a great value and the views of the smaller canals are amazing. A great stay.

A house by the canal with gondolas passing by, with two bridges just outside, a great café/restaurant downstairs, short walk thru that great labyrinth of streets and piazzas - does not get any more Venice than that! We arrived by train from Florence, and had to pick up the key from Florida hotel next to the station. As we arrived...

If you've never visited Venice before it can be a strain on the wallet! Accommodation near the main sights might be attractive but you are going to either have to lug suitcases a long way or pay for a very expensive water taxi. This B&B is less than 10 minutes walk from the Bus and Train station. Make sure you...

Nice enough place. Staff at the main hotel (where you check in) all very friendly, nice breakfast. The b&b was a little tricky to find but it was dark when we arrived . Comfortable, clean accommodation within walking distance of the main attractions. Venice itself is amazing.

We stayed 1 night and it's located 5 mins walk from main Venice train station (through shortcuts). The b&b is part of a hotel Florida and the staff is extremely friendly and breakfast next to the canal is amazing. Room is clean and spacious, however the mattress is uncomfortable and wobbly.

We stayed three nights at Casanova ai Tolentini in the larger (triple) room (104). The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious, modern and clean- excellent shower and hot water. The location is very quiet but with easy access to eateries, vaparetto and train station. We paid an additional 5 euro per person for breakfast at the...

We stayed in the suite over looking the canal, which is only available when booking on the website, breakfast at the downstairs patiseria was included. It was perfect for three of us, a huge double bedroom (160 euro) and a separate smal room (30 euro extra). Location was perfect, very close to Piazzake Roma, only two bridges to cross, also...

Our room was very comfortable - big and light in an excellent part of Venice with easy access to transport, cafes and the Grand Canal. Our hosts wee wonderful and provided great advice on things to see and do. It was worth the 5 minute walk to have breakfast at Hotel Florida. Internet wifi was intermittent.

First it was everything ok with this place. The problem started at our arrival to Venice. We've called and confirmed our reservation by phone, the receptionist gave us the instructions to get there wrong. She send us to the B&B not to the Hotel where it was supouse to get the keys. After a couple of minutes under the rain...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
