We stayed at Hotel a La Commedia for one night and were very impressed! The hotel has a convenient location within walking distance of the Rialto Bridge, the public waterbus (ACTV Line 1, Rialto stop) and St. Mark's Square. The rooms were elegantly decorated with gold accents, marble in the bathroom, and lovely paintings. We also had a mini bar...

Stayed here for four nights. Whilst the chauffeur service from the airport ain't cheap, if you are arriving late, as we did without knowing the locale, it was well worth it. Limousine to water taxi to porter went very smoothly as each phoned ahead. Allora. Hotel is very accessible for all of Venice- a ten to fifteen minute walk gets...

The hotel is easy to get to either by Water Taxi or by Water Bus from the cruise terminal or from the airport. Walking distance to almiost all major attractions in Venice. Lots of good restaurants in the neighbourhood and of course, shopping. All the staff are amazingly freindling and helpful. I will definitely go back the next time...

Lovely hotel and safe very accommodating, great location. Beds very comfy loved that they had duvets. Loved the room all decorated to a very high spec. Breakfast was a little limited and restaurant area a little small for the size of the hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel to people visiting Venice.

Stayed here August 2016 following a trip on the Venice Simpson Orient Express. Citalia had provided a water taxi transfer free of charge which was a nice surprise. I worried a little as we were the last couple to be dropped at out hotel however when we ventured out to explore this is really central - it is not right...

The location is great. The hotel rooms are well sized esp for Europe. We had a great stay. It is a very short walk to the grand canal and a brief walk to San Marco square. The bar downstairs is quite small and there is a trace bar on the roof but not very big but you can see San...

We have particularly enjoyed our 5 days in Venice, thanks to the welcome and the rest we have found in staying at A la Comedia Hotel Very well located, modern and comfortable, very helpful and friendly staff, generous breakfast, lovely terrace for an afterdinner drink... An excellent and recommended choice if you stay in Venice

This hotel exceeded my expectations. When you walk inside, it is beautifully decorated and up to date. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. The breakfast was simple but very typical Italian hotel breakfast: meats, cheeses, fresh juices, hot drinks, breads, pastries, and fruit and yogurt, they also included a turn down service, which was very nice....

This is a wonderful hotel in the middle of Venice. An easy walk from the dock with your suitcase (2 minutes). The staff could not be friendlier, or more helpful. They offered directions and maps, and guided us to fantastic restaurants, our entire visit. Our room was small, but it was lovely, bright and very clean. If this hotel had...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
