Stayed here August 2016 following a trip on the Venice Simpson Orient Express. Citalia had provided a water taxi transfer free of charge which was a nice surprise. I worried a little as we were the last couple to be dropped at out hotel however when we ventured out to explore this is really central - it is not right...

We stayed at Hotel a La Commedia for one night and were very impressed! The hotel has a convenient location within walking distance of the Rialto Bridge, the public waterbus (ACTV Line 1, Rialto stop) and St. Mark's Square. The rooms were elegantly decorated with gold accents, marble in the bathroom, and lovely paintings. We also had a mini bar...

The location is great. The hotel rooms are well sized esp for Europe. We had a great stay. It is a very short walk to the grand canal and a brief walk to San Marco square. The bar downstairs is quite small and there is a trace bar on the roof but not very big but you can see San...

We have particularly enjoyed our 5 days in Venice, thanks to the welcome and the rest we have found in staying at A la Comedia Hotel Very well located, modern and comfortable, very helpful and friendly staff, generous breakfast, lovely terrace for an afterdinner drink... An excellent and recommended choice if you stay in Venice

This hotel exceeded my expectations. When you walk inside, it is beautifully decorated and up to date. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. The breakfast was simple but very typical Italian hotel breakfast: meats, cheeses, fresh juices, hot drinks, breads, pastries, and fruit and yogurt, they also included a turn down service, which was very nice....

This is a wonderful hotel in the middle of Venice. An easy walk from the dock with your suitcase (2 minutes). The staff could not be friendlier, or more helpful. They offered directions and maps, and guided us to fantastic restaurants, our entire visit. Our room was small, but it was lovely, bright and very clean. If this hotel had...

I stayed here for 1 night in April 2017 with my girlfriend. We arrived in Venice by train so to reach the hotel we took the water taxi to the Rialto stop which cost about 5 euros and then we disembarked and took a 2 minute walk to the hotel. The hotel is situated slap bang in the middle of...

This Hotel is just perfect if you stay for some days in venice. The Location is about 2 min from Rialto, where you can get every boat, also to the airport. From the hotel you can reach all spots in venice by foot. The staff is very kind and helps you with every thing. The rooftop bar is very nice...

We arrived at this hotel on Saturday 31st March in the afternoon. Contrary to other reviews I found the person at reception very condescending. His tone and demeanour were far from welcoming. This male receptionist then produced wipes to clean our hands. He also tried his best to sell us a boat trip. Needless to say we avoided reception for...

Excellent location, close to the Rialto bridge and the water bus from and to the airport, within walking distance to Saint Marco Place. We stayed 5 nights last week and greatly enjoyed the lovely room and the friendly informative staff. Room and bathroom were large, very clean. Breakfast was great with always renewing fruits, croissants, etc. that were excellent. The...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
