Easy to get to just take the orange line to Gugle and then its just a short walk across the bridge. We were greeted warmly at reception, who gave us a map of venice and pointed out how to get to certain lanmarks. Then shown to our room which was on the 3rd floor and must have been the attic...

When I made a reservation for his property I wasn't sure where it was but I was glad I had picked it. It is located in Cannaregio where there is a lot less crowd than in San Marco area. The neighborhood is full of small shops that cater to locals and tourists alike. Prices in these places seem so much...

We are repeat guests at this lovely hotel. We enjoyed the four poster bed and the balcony overlooking Calle Cendon, sipping the complimentary wine and thrilled that we were able to have the same suite again. Its location is ideal and also very handy to the Jewish quarter as well as fine dining. The staff are friendly and helpful: one...

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cendon. Expecting the nights to be cold in such an old hotel, we had packed warm nightwear but the rooms were double glazed with all mod cons and air conditioning is available during the summer months. Staff were all friendly and spoke good English and were very helpful with any questions...

I first visited this hotel in 2007 with my ex-husband and remembered it when I was looking for somewhere reasonably priced for a weekend with a friend. It has been extended a bit since my first stay (which I think was shortly after it opened) but the warm welcome and friendly service remain. We arrived in Venice early in the...

We loved our stay at the palazzo cendon and the only reason for that was our room. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and booked the junior suite of the hotel and trust me it was wonderful. The room is very huge decorated in elegant venetian style furniture with murano chandeliers and a four posted bed. The bathroom is...

What a fab little gem of a hotel this was. I went off other Trip Advisor reviews and you were all spot on! Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
