San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Very few of the goodness-knows-how-many visitors to Venice ever find their way to the small singularly pretty courtyard that is home to Al Codega. It's beautifully tucked-away between Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square, minutes from both, but a world away from the hurly-burly.

Spent four nights in Venice, staying at the Al Codega, which proved to be a great spot to come 'home' to after wandering the many streets and bridges that make up Venice. A short walk from St Mark's, with plenty of shopping and eating options close by. Breakfast was a

Wonderful boutique hotel. The staff are warm and friendly. Could ask the staff member at the front desk anything about the area. Very helpful small maps available. Easy walking around the San Marco section, i.e. To St. Marks square. Also short walk to the Rialto Bridge and

Besides the great breakfast, location, and general aesthetics of the place, the reason I keep coming back to this hotel is the amazing staff. I've never met an ENTIRE staff of people so dedicated to the quality of my stay. Every last staff member is friendly, helpful,

Very helpful staff, good location and fantastic breakfast. Made our trip to Venice a real treat. It is a little difficult to find, but well worth the trip. Steph went out of their way to help us navigate the city,. Room was spotless and the breakfast buffet was the best I’ve

Yes. Get off the vaporetto at Rialto. It is a 2 1/2 minute walk from there. Their website includes a link with specific directions and includes a link to a YouTube video which was extremely helpful for me.

Does the hotel have a baby crib
Hi. I suggest emailing them - their email is on their web site and it suggests contacting them for services for young kids. It is a lovely hotel.

Does the hotel have a baby crib
I really don’t know... since we didn’t take our children to there.

Hi Annabel. There are two sensible options: (a) the Alilaguna public water bus (orange line) which I suggest unless you are elderly, or have mobility issues or have a lot of luggage, or (b) the a water taxi . The former is considerably cheaper although a little bit slower. It is a normal way to get to the city so it is quite easy. Just get a ticket at the airport at the ticket machine (one price for one way - not sure if you can get a return ticket) and get off at Rialto and follow Hotel's instructions to get to hotel (max 5 min walk). Even if you get a water taxi (very expensive unless you are sharing with a number of friends) there is no guarantee that the taxi will get you closer to the hotel, depending on the tide. If you need a porter from the water bus stop, check ahead with the hotel as they were extremely helpful and might be able to advise you.
