All the hotels in venice looks strange from outside so don't make a judgement from exterior. This is a super location and you are next to st marks square that's where everybody comes.. On line 1 of boat taxi so pretty convenient to go anywhere. Very helpful staff and high spec rooms. Small though but all hotels are like this.....

Hotel is a little difficult to locate. Follow the instructions of previous reviewer Carol. However turn right when you see the Armani store and turn right again into a courtyard to the hotel. Breakfast is good and room is clean. The only downside is wifi is very weak in the room. My room is 403.

Had the most perfect time in Venice and the hotel played a big part in this, the location was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful! Stupidly we left our passports in the room safe but we had left our luggage there whilst we had a final look around and they had found them and put them in...

We arrived today with In hand a copy of Carols Instructions from October 2013. This was such an easy way to get here but for those who may also be planning to use her instructions there is one alteration that needs to be changed. When you get to the Armani store turn right not left and in about 15 meters...

Just returned from a 2 night break at this hotel. We requested a quiet room and were given one over looking the courtyard. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I also thought it strange to have to leave the key but I guess as they have access to your room anyway it makes...

We stayed here for 2 nights in December 2013. Great location (a short walk to/from St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge). The room was a decent size, though it was a bit dusty and we have a suspicion that it wasn't fully cleaned before our arrival. Breakfast is included and is fine--nothing special, but plenty of options (fruit salad, meats,...

We booked this hotel after reading reviews on TA about it and we were very happy with our choice. An ideal location, a few minutes walk from St Mark's Square and an easy walk from Rialto Bridge water bus stop. I asked the hotel to email me a map as I had read that it was difficult to find. The...

We were traveling to Europe for the first time and leaving on a 31 day cruise from Venice. Not knowing the area at all I used Trip Advisor and Hotel. com guest ratings to find hotels and then picked from those that rated best. This hotel had the highest rating and the price was excellent. Prior to arriving they were...

What a wonderful hotel in Venice! Location is outstanding, less than a 5 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. The hotel is in a quiet area with huge rooms and a nice shower. The staff was friendly and breakfast buffet was good. For the price and location, I would definitely stay here again. I highly advise you to take the...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
