His wife is amazing but Polo is very cheeky and impatient. Within 5mins of arriving in Venice he expected us to know Venice well enough to take directions over the phone,we were still trying to get our bearing of the place. However we r thankful that he came out to get us from the bridge, organised accommodation for my sister and...

I stayed here last month with my Mum and it was pleasant. The location on booking.com isn't actually that clear for someone who hasn't been to Venice before. We got completely lost but thankfully a kind man showed us the way. Once you find it, its right beside the Rialto bridge therefore brilliant location. The room is very basic, and...

Ramshackled stinky hole. Don´t trust the photos. Furniture is very old and are falling apart. The whole think smells very penetrant and opening of the window doesn´t help. The matrass and the bed sheets have seen better times.

Paolo is a very nice host. He contacted us a week in advance with detailed instructions to make sure that we can get to the place. We arrived very late out of check-in time, the extra cost of operation should be applied. However, he make it free. Breakfast was delicious.

The room was very nice and Natalie was really welcoming and excellent. It is a good deal overall in my opinion as it is situated near loads of restaurants and not too far from the Rialto Bridge which I used as a landmark.

The staff is very friendly and the hostel is really nice, looks like they care more about having a good time than actually making business. Paulo the owner has many good advices about venice, don't hesitate to ask him.

Please do not stay here if you are looking to have an all-round wonderful experience in Venice. We arrived late (10:30PM) our first night here after a long day of travel due to transportation cancellations due to a strike in Italy. I made sure to tell the host we would be arriving late due to the change in travel plans,...

1. The worst downside of this place is there is Only ONE bathroom for all people!! It was a nightmare, waiting for bathroom line early morning and late night, especially with limited time for sightseeing. This place is not supposed to be b&b, it's a just normal house and tries to function as a b&b. So you can feel many...

Our family of 4 stayed in a single room with 1 double and 2 single beds. The rooms are clean, the hosts are friendly, and the location is great, near the Rialto bridge and good restaurants and shopping. This was our first B&B, so I can't compare to others. The breakfast is very basic, with prepackaged buns and biscuits and...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
