Centrally located, the hotel Ca Sagredo is on the Grand Canal with its own dock. A nobleman's palatial residence has been converted to a very elegant hotel. Its beautiful grand staircase will send you back to the days of grand ball. A very helpful staff complements the luxurious comforts of the hotel. On arrival, we chose to take the tea...

While this hotel is located in a premium location directly on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge, it's customer service is not good. My wife and I just returned from a three night stay in one of it's 'historic' rooms which was the size of a small ballroom which was by far the largest hotel room we've ever stayed...

Great location and great hotel. Service was understated but exactly what we needed; room was terrific and the whole experience helped us enjoy our few days in Venice immensely. Location on the Grand Canal was easy to get to and provided a good central location for us to wander from each day. Overall .... great!

The Ca'Sagredo is part of the leading hotel chain and is simply stunning. Going for breakfast in the ballroom and or on the verandah overlooking the canal is an experience I will never forget. The service was excellent and if you plan well you can have a room overlooking the condoliers which is so picturesk. The hotel is opposite the...

its perfectly located, only a few stops from the station/piazzale Roma and right next to it is the Gondola bringing you over to the fishmarket. My husband chose this for our 10th anniversary and I must admit this was a perfect choice. Centrally located, next to gondola crossing and vaporetto station. When exiting the hotel if you turn right, road takes you into city center and the left hand turn takes you to a part of Venice enjoyed by locals. We went to some lovely...

We stayed in the Sebatiano Ricci Suite. It was absolutely luxurious and beautiful. The room is massive and the high cathedral ceilings are amazing. The furnishings and fixtures were elegant, but comfortable. The staff was amazing. We do not speak Italian, but it was not a problem here. The hotel is located on the Grand Canal and is central to...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
