Buongiorno! Thank you for the very kind review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! Please remember that windows are antiques, but soundproof! trouble is that the vaporettos are VERY loud, they are bigger (and older) than any bus. So even with the soundproof...More

I'm so interested to see this review by Stephen C and note that it was posted THREE WEEKS AGO and the staff member who replied said this would "never happen again." Well, my children and i just returned from the Hotel Palazzo Stern and it was literally one of the worst hotel stays of my life. We too were coerced into going to Murano and told we would take a water taxi TO AND FROM the island. However, after I purchased nearly $500 worth of glass, we were put in a water taxi with another couple and then dumped on the OTHER SIDE OF VENICE from the hotel. Did I mention I had two children with me? I called the hotel and was essentially told "who cares, not our problem" so we struggled quite a bit (had I know this was the deal, I would have been more prepared and worked out a transportation plan) and returned to the hotel 90 minutes later, hot and sweaty and miserable. I spoke to the manager about how his description did not match our reality and he literally laughed at me and said I should have known that we he said transportation was provided, it was only one way. Later I watched this same manager mock another American family who asked for a recommendation for a restaurant that served good pasta. He sneered "this is ITALY, everywhere has pasta, if you can't be more specific, I can't help you." Finally, on the night before we were to leave, I asked the manager if we could get something for breakfast the next morning before we left. The posted breakfast times are 7:30-10, but we were leaving on a water taxi at 7 to get to the airport. He told me if we were there at 6:45, we could have rolls, coffee and hot chocolate, which sounded perfect. When we got downstairs at 6:45, however, the manager on duty scoffed at my request to enter the breakfast area and said "we NEVER serve breakfast before 7:30." I guess that was just another example of being lied to by Palazzo Stern management. In short, this hotel is gorgeous and in a wonderful location, but the people running it are so corrupt and such inhospitable jerks that I wouldn't wish a stay here on my worst enemy. Stay somewhere half as pretty with an ethical and friendly staff and you will have a much better time in Venice!! So I guess my question for the hotel staff is Why would you tell Stephen C that this would "never happen again" and then continue on with the exact same deceptive practices? And my question for other past guests is did you experience this sort of dishonest behavior or any other examples of rudeness or American-hating instances? If so, please share them here. Thank you!!
